This sucks, another 2 1/2 hours before an "all clear" in central MD. I can't imagine living in "the alley"! Are ya still disputin' "climate change"?

I'm in Kentucky and I've put up with those warnings non-stop all week and throughout this past weekend. I'm also a college student and the University keeps sending us warnings instructing everyone to "take cover immediately". Regardless, they didn't cancel class. I still went to my O. Chem lecture. Watching clouds rotate is intimidating.

We regularly get tornado watches and tornado warnings here. I've never lost any sleep over them though personally.

You'll hear it if it's coming. I've been through two of them in my life...and they're pretty damn hard to miss...lol

I've heard tornadoes sound like a train. My old apartment is a couple hundred feet away from a busy railroad track. Haven't had a good night's sleep in a few days.

Dude... I had golf ball size hail an hour ago... tons of cars in the parking lot are minus windshields or sunroofs.... the trees are all minus leaves (but they have some to spare)... and my car sits in 10 inches of water :)

edit: i saved some hail in my freezer too (I feel special)

We were in a rental car at night in Texas years ago and twisters were being reported everywhere on the radio! A really great situation to be in when you've got no idea where the Hell they're taliking about or, what freaking county you happen to be driving through! Drunken driving helped a lot.

Here in Tornado Alley you get use to them. It probably is pretty uneasy where you guys normally dont get tornado's.

Is it true you should open your windows a little to equalize the air pressure differential? An old man from Topeka told me that long ago.

I didn't even notice the storm until hail started hitting my window... and even then, I ran outside to yell at the kids who were doing it

I had the speakers turned up a bit

Damn, and you are close. Nothing here so far. I saw the storms go by to the north of me and south of me but nothing but heavy winds so far.

Duke Power has a rating system for storms. Not that any of you guys care but I had a situation to where I needed to call a 1st responder today. When the situation was taken care of, he mentioned to me that crews are not on standby but on the clock until 7:00 this morning. This is not normal. He had mentioned that Duke rates storms on a ten step level [10 being the worst] and as of 5:00PM, this storm system was rated at a 9. I would imagine Hugo was a 10.

I'd hate to be an insurance company this month down here. It's amazing that when driving down the road, just how many cars have hail damage. Some, really bad.

No that is an old wives tail. It wont help if your house is hit by a tornado or close to one.

No....he never implied that it would do diddly for a direct, in the path hit. He said he'd seen a few houses actually explode due to the sudden drop of ambient air pressure. He did drink Sterno and silo juice, though.

A Juke? Hmmmm...well, look on the bright side, hail damage can't make it any uglier! Might even improve the situation!

Look at this idiot. Standing in the way of a tornado with a video camera.:

    <iframe width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5ohIVzIZLuQ&quot; frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

That's the mile wide one from Tuscaloosa on 4/27.

Remember folks, if you've been on TV more than 5 times describing what the tornado sounded like...you might be a redneck.

Just got done with a week straight here. It almost felt odd having a quiet day yesterday.

Its a myth. All you do when you open windows and doors is let the wind rain and debris in your home. The difference in pressure isn't that much.

Those are "speed holes" or "speed dimples" rather. Like on a golf ball. It's a performance modification!

We had one touch down close enough to where I lived in NW Ga.

For some reason I found myself seeking shelter in my neighbors travel-trailer, hoping the reverse would be true this time.
