Inside the park home run

I know a good chunk of you aren't Phillies Phans but hey, we can't all be perfect, right?
Well, Easter Sunday was a beautiful day to be a Phillies Phan 'cause Doc was on the mound and the Flyin' Hawaiian was swinging his bat and showing everyone why he deserves his nickname!
In the 7th inning, Shane popped one to right-center field. Venable made a diving catch for it but couldn't hold on. The ball came out of his glove when he hit the turf and skidded in the opposite direction. Maybin made a valiant effort to get the ball back to the infield to stop Shane from running but by the time he stood up, Shane was already making the cut around 3rd. The ball arrived at home a split second before Shane did but his head first slide scooted him right under Rob Johnson's mitt and Shane scored himself a home run, legging it all the way around the bases. Impressive base running.

That, my friends, is a classic baseball moment!
BTW, PETCO Park is a beautiful field! Just wish it had a better name.
What was also amazing to me is that Sandy Eggo is on the other side of the country but there was as much red in the stands as any of the Padres colors and the roar of glee when the Phillies scored or got a hard out was fascinating. I mean, you got to Nationals Park when the Phils are in D.C. Shea Stadium when the Mets are hosting and you'll gets gobs of Phillies fans in the stands because of proximity. But Sandy Eggo is a couple thousand miles away and PETCO Park was still inundated with red. Just amazing that opposing teams can't even get a break from Phillie Phever in their home parks. If that's how it is in PETCO Park or any other opposing team's park, I can't imagine what kind of anxiety they must go through coming to the Phillies house down there at 11th and Pattison.
Oh and for the time being, the Phillies are the best team in all of baseball. I know it's only a few weeks in to the season but the Phillies have won about 71 and a half percent of the games they have played so far. That's impressive for any team. More so at the end of the season than the beginning but still, winning around 3 out of ever 4 games you play is not anything to scoff at. Especially when an impact starter and their two best relievers/closers are on the DL.
I'm so glad baseball is here. Otherwise we'd have to listen ad nauseum to NFL Lockout BS.

Wasn't my video.
I did have a nice seat though. My Laz-E-Boy in my living room in front of the digital feed from the cable company.Expert Moron Extraordinaire
