What a way to run a business

I contacted Polk in the US and they informed me that I have to order my upgrade RDO-194 tweeters from their Canadian sales rep. I sent an e-mail to this rep and got a price to purchase ($146.90 including shipping). Ok now its more than if I lived in the US thats ok I'm used to that.

Heres the rub. There is only one way I can pay and get them. I have to go to the bank and get a money order and or a certified check, then mail it to him. Once he recieves it, he will ship them.

I wonder why in our electronic age, Polk's representative in Canada doesn't have a more expediated way of getting payment ie: credit card, paypal, wire transfer, or even e-mail money transfer.

I know like it seems a minor issue but it is very inconvienient for me as a customer for me to do business this way.

IMO, this is a question of money. From my understanding, the Canadian rep task is more with dealers than anything else. Now, for the odd transaction like yours the cost of the rental equipment and transaction fee is not justified thus the reason for certified checks. I feel a little disappointed about the Polk representation in Canada but let's face it the Canadian market is not as big as the US market. I also think the Canadian ruling also makes it difficult for Polk (more likey the reason for Polk HQ to refer you to the Canadian dealer).

I hope you had a good Easter weekend!

Just keep in mind it's a rarity for a company to actively support such an old product line. You should be thankful Polk goes out of their way to improve and provide new parts for long defunct lines of speakers. There aren't too many companies that care about doing that.

A little inconvenience for what will be a very nice upgrade.

I found a way around this. I contacted a guy who fixed my brother's RTI4's a few months back and he ordered them and had the rep ups them to me tomorrow. Sweet!!!!!!

They aren't any cheaper than the Polk replacement that was made for that speaker.

Those are the same ones they sell on ebay.

Why the high price for RD0's from Polk? Something's not right.

Yeah, that isn't the right price. I paid less than that.

I thought that Polkaudio did not have a replacement for the Peerless tweeter, and that the MidWest unit was the only alternative to finding an original, used one?

For the peerless they don't but for any of the SL's they do. The RDO-194.

Your pic shows a peerless which is not available from Polk and can not be substituted with any RDOs, thus my statement, MidWest or used originals.

Actually my pic shows a copy of the peerless. Although the peerless looks identical.

And I agreed with you that they had no replacement for them. But the OP wasn't talking about peerless tweeters JackA was.

So we are both right. :)
