Mixing Balanced Cables

I was talking to a young guy at Wyred 4 Sound and he was saying not to run both balanced and unbalanced cables. I have a A/V processor that has balanced outputs. My Parasound amp does not have them My new W4S Monos do. Should I only run one way or the other? Any opinions are appreciated.

I've mixed and matched both RCA and XLR. My best combination has been all XLR altho your results may be different.

A very nice XLR is a Mogami Gold from the Guitar Center and they are very affordable. If your rig is not balanced from end to end, you may not see any noticeable difference between the two. The XLR MAY reduce a bit of noise if your runs are long.

What the guy at W4S is getting at is you are/may be going to have to play with the gain matching (if you can) to get the output and optimum noise floor.

Different types of topologies mean different voltages and impedances. It can be done. What is the entire list of your electronics (make/model)?

Just what I have in my signature. My new W4S SX-1000's arrive tomorrow, that will be the only addition. Now that I think about it they all run through a Monster EP IR 3650 power conditioner. Where would I be able to adjust the gain?
