How good is a SRT center by itself. I just bought one off ebay and I was hoping it matches up well with a SRS 7.1 system I am putting together. My mains will be SRS 1.2's, the center will be the SRT, the rears will be SRS 2's pin/blade version and the rear centers will be CRS+'s. I realize the SRS speakers were not made for HT but I thought since I have them I would see what happens. All of the SRS speakers I believe are 6 ohm with RDO 194 replacement tweets. I doubt if I need a sub. I will use an Onkyo SR805 AVR. It should be interesting.

Sounds good to me. those that have heard my 2.3TL's in my surround setup have been impressed. I tried one of these for a short time however, and I found that I prefer the CSiA6 for center duty.

The SRT center was exclusively designed for the SRT system. As a matter of fact, The SRT center is the stereo half of the SRT mains. It may be compatible with the RT/LS series since it uses a similar tweeter but not so much with the SRS series.

If it does not sound right. I have a RT series collection of speakers it should work out with. What's the differance between the SRT center and the LS350 center speaker, they look similar.

I am guessing mixing and matching like you plan to do will not sound nearly as good as you other 2 systems. And going for 7 channels you don't want to run the interconnect cable between your mains (front or rear), although I'd like to try it on mine to see what it sounds like?

I will use the interconnect cables on all the speakers. The SDA speakers don't sound nearly as good without the cable. All the SDA speakers match sonically. I will see how close the SRT matches. Who knows maybe this is the first piece of a future SRT system.

They have a similar tweeter but the mid drivers are different. I'd say that the mids are closer to what was used in the RT series that followed.

I had my eye on that center as an insurance policy for my SRT's but was hoping he'd come down on the price a bit. Enjoy the center!

What if the center was matched with a SRS 1.2tl with RDO 198 tweets. Do you think that would match better?

Agreed. Only your ears will know what sounds good.

With the right modifications and right equipment - the SRS 1.2TLs sounds awesome in 2 channel mode and will never need a center speaker.

It should be here anyday now. I am looking forward to hearing it and comparing it to other Polk centers I have.

And like I said in this post, I use mine in my HT in the living room (6000+ cu ft). Also scored 2 sets of RT 55i's along with the RT 1000i so I have all my surrounds the same now (wides 55i, L & R surrounds 1000i, & rear surrounds 55i. I run my system as "large" along with my Quad Empires. Ran some spl tests between large and small with the subs and prefer the large settings. More life to the audio channels.

I got the SRT center yesterday. It looks like it just came out of the box. So far I teamed it up with my SRS 3.1tl's and after playing around with my Onkyo SR805 I got it to sound pretty darn good at a high volume setting for music. It's impressive but I will next try this center with RT800's. I am a big fan of the RT series speakers and for what I heard from Polk reps, these should be the closest sonically in matching the SRT. I look forward to mixing and matching some of my speakers with the SRT but so far teaming this center with SRS speakers is not a bad marriage. Maybe someday I will be lucky enough to find a whole set of SRT's. I am sure that would be awesome.

I noticed on some SRT literature that Polk recommended using two SRT centers for there top of the line setup. Does anyone use two centers. I was wondering what other club members thought.

I've used two. Not much different than using one. It's all room dependent.

It looks like I am going to get a second SRT center. How would I hook up two center SRT's. If I don't like the how it sounds, I could always use it in a Yamaha 6.1 system as my rear center.

    I'd stick with one.
