Hello guys, JEES do I have to much time to think of things to do w/ my gear.
Already I have steaming i-net music going into audio 1 of my Yamaha RX-V665
then corded up to my Onkyo P301 pre to go through my 2-chl rig. All this works perfectly and not being computer literate I think it came out ok.
Now I'm not a big movie H/T guy but lately I've been seeing people getting
puter on their big screens and at very least through their Blue-Ray netflix thingy. I have no idea ,and do not want another monthly bill .but can my Gateway be tied into either the Tosiba au37 or the Yamaha rx-v665. Again as before both set-ups are in different rooms and the Gateway is no laptop.I do know in the newer avrs there are ports where puters plug in. For me what would be involved ,and runnining back and forth from one room to another is, well out. Look if it's obnoxously difficult ok I just want to get the most out of this system, systems or maybe not. You guys PONDER that for a while on a Sat. afternoon. In all sincerity thanks....LW

Use DVI > HDMI adapter... they make em for either end of the cable... I like the ones that are just like 3 inches long and go dvi to hdmi on the computer end... so you use an HDMI cable, not a dvi. they also make cables that are DVI on one end and HDMI on the other.... personal preference, but the adapter can get you up in running today.

as for audio... optical or coax ... or mini to rca if you're unlucky.

I think all my audio sources off the computer are used up. THis Gateway does not have optical or Hdmi as does my Yamaha .So the DVI to HDMI might be the way to go if the cble isn't to much. This is so not inportant that well if it can work ok and you know the rest. Thanks again as always steered inthe right direction.....LW

keep in mind, dvi does not carry audio. If you use DVI to HDMI, you will have video only. You will need to find a way to carry audio.... you can get a cheap sound card off craigslist... just make sure it has coax or optical. Most old SB's even have a mini digital ( which requires a mini to rca adapter). I think they started putting them on there on SB Lives... it was orange back in the day, now it's just labeled and is the same color as everything else
