I've been meaning to pickup some deoxit to clean my pre for a while... when I bought it, the connectors were a mix of gold and green. I had tested silver wires on the aux input, and that sounded really bad... I cleaned off the RCAs and it now sounds fine and my cables come off much easier. Took the entire $15 radioshack pack to get it clean though.

Deoxing is defiantly a good think. I used it on the tubes sockets in my pre and it helped with some microphonic tube problems problems.
If life had more tubes it would be a lot smoother.

I need to look into buying some of the gold myself.
Nothing but great feedback for their products.

What's wrong with signals or bens ics?

I know man, I just want to hear the difference this time because it was cheap, so it's there

But seriously, my RCAs looked like this... only on a smaller scale

    photo03.jpg

The sound was so bad (sharp) that I actually switched from bens ics to some cable that came with a $30 dvd player (on a diff input) because I thought it was the silver... it was more likely the terminals, as it sounds fine now.

Yeah, I have used silver plenty believe me, I don't think it would have anything to do with the type of connector.
Some claim silver sounds better with age/oxidation.
I have never had a problem and I am a silver "addict".

Did you twist the connector by accident when you applied the Deoxit?

    Nope.

I had to tighten one of the sets of preouts when I got it, so they could have all been tightened in this things 21 year life. Idk if its worth straightening them all out
