My son will graduate in a couple of weeks with a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science. It's been a long haul over the last 22 years but it seems that the plan is coming together. He done good:

President's List
Outstanding Student of the Year, Mathematics and Computer Sciences
Summa **** Laude

The Chancellor had a hard time explaining his research project at the Convocation Service last night. He plans to go to the next level.

Congrats to you and your son! major accomplishment that will make any dad overwhelmingly full of pride!

My son is a sophomore in HS and he was inducted to NHS (National Honor Society), a small step towards the right path of securing the future. still a proud moment for dad.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Congratulations and good luck to your son. I know you are proud...and should be!

My youngest graduates in 3 weeks with a BS in Advertising and a minor in Business Administration.

As the father of one recent and one soon to be college grads...It is tough out there. Not many jobs for these kids. My daughter the designer/architect is having a hard time because ENTRY LEVEL positions are asking for 5 years experience...and believe it or not...they are getting lots of applicants with those credentials. My youngest says if no jobs crop up soon…she’s heading to Colorado and work as a river guide in the summer and a ski patrol/instructor in the winters… We’ll see how that works out.

You're telling me. It took me several months to find a job which didn't work out...and I was jobless for 3 full months before I found another. The job I have now is fantastic. Almost exactly what I wanted, just wish the pay was a little better, but I guess everyone wants that.

    Thanks for the comments.

Jobs are scarce out there. My son has been working pretty much full time for the last two years with a local unit of a larger software company which has several government contracts. He's been writing code for them on several projects. At least he has an inside track on that. He's employable as is but if he can get in on a couple of the graduate programs applied for he will survive.

Congrats. My oldest graduated with honors in Econ. and Asian Studies about two years ago. He also took the Best Economics Major prize from his Dept. Got himself a great job in Boston, found a nice girlfriend and is contemplating his next move....maybe an MBA.

Best wishes for your son's future and continued success!

You have done well raising a good man.

Dont listen to all these knuckleheads talking about people with same qualifications sweeping floors. All it takes is one hire, and no one knows what it will be like 6 months from now.

University of South Carolina at Aiken. A great small #1 ranked regional college. Average class size of 18 students. http://web.usca.edu/marketing/news.dot?id=57442

One good note is that he owes (0) for his education. I paid for his 1st semester of books. The rest has been paid by academic scholarships, working as a math tutor and his programming job.
