RTA - 15T Speakers etc.

My grandfather recently passed away, and left behind a ton of nice speaker equipment. I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about RTA - 15T speakers? They look different from the photos of the RTA - 15TLs I have seen.

We also have 4 smaller speakers - Monitor Series 4 (82823).

My grandmother would like me to give them away or sell them, so I figured I would do my due diligence and figure out if they were worth anything first.

Thanks for the help!
Mike

Sorry to hear about your loss, the 15's should fetch between $300 (avg condition) and $600 (absolutely pristine, consecutive serial numbers), it all depends on the condition and the market in your area (local sale).

The 4's are an easy sell at $50/pair, you might be able to hold out for $75 for clean ones - the grill on yours looks a little worse for wear.

We do have a 100 post minimum to sell items directly on Club Polk, if you want to state your location, members can contact you through your registered email address if need be. Audiogon, eBay and craigslist are good places to get eyes on what you have, if indeed you do plan on selling.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Thank you very much for the response Russ. This helps a lot.

The serial numbers on the 15's are 3535 and 3540, which I assume means they are not consecutive. I would be very interested in selling these. I will probably hold on to the 4's.

I am in Tucson, AZ for anyone who is interested. I will post these on craigslist today.

    Again, thanks Russ,
    Mike

I did a bunch of reading on "15T" when I got mine. I am pretty certain there is no such unit as a 15T...they are all TL based on the release date and design time. Even if it says 15T on the box or the drivers. In other words, they have the SL3000 tweeter.

I think this is true as well, as the set I had said 15t but they were 15tl's

Sure...here they are side by side...It's a bit heart breaking to have to part with these, but I am a grad student with a tiny apartment. These things take up most of my kitchen...thanks again for everyone's help.

The RTA15T and RTA15TL are the same. It was a marketing name change.

Hi. I just moved my RTA 15-TLs to Tucson, in their original boxes (from 1991, marked RTA 15t). If you want them, come and get them before Waste Management does!

I own at this time monitor 7's and RTA 15tl's, The 15tl's in my opinion are very good speakers with the singers voice being more pronounced. I enjoy them. The Monitor's I have had are Monitor 5's and 10's both with the peerless tweets. I kept my Monitor 7's with the peerless tweets because I felt they were the best of the bunch. The 7's are exceptional and do everything well. RTA's 15's are big and can handle a lot of power. Some members don't care for the bass on these speakers. I really don't have any complaints and enjoy the RTA's. You would be pleased with either speaker.
