Man, I tell ya'. I come home early from a great and easy day at work and I log on to Club Polk. It seems as if on every thread I click on, someone's at someone else' throat *female dogging* and complaining.

Would you all kindly please knock it off?

It's not becoming of this forum and it's definitely not necessary. Most of you are better than this. That said, I'm outta here for a while. I'm gonna go someplace where the atmosphere is nice and the people are friendly. You know, like this place usually is.

I was just recently 'gifted' from someone here at CP w/o asking, so I'm still very much positive about this forum.

There are still folks to learn from here - so again, I'm still very positive overall.

Lately, I'm more of a mind to not take the bait in the usual threads - easy to spot.

EVERY forum I have ever been on has had periods of extreme negativity -each has their own recurring hot topics that devolve quickly.

It isn't worth the emotional investment to get embroiled in them - slowly learning not to even venture back into a thread that is going downhill.

    I love the ignore list!

I'm making a commitment here. From now on, when I'm feeling tempted to take the bait, that's when it's time to put the person on ignore. Much simpler that way.
Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

I'm surrounded all day long with so called adults at school who act like immature HS teenagers! I even told one ignorant girl to act like an adult today since she and another girl were yelling loud enough for the whole school to hear. Her reply was "she doesn't care what anyone here". I said obviously. She's too stupid to realize that she is not exactly leaving anyone with a good impression of her.

The same can be said for a lot of threads on here.

Tom - You're on the rag again. About every 6 months you b8tch about things here and either leave or threaten to leave. We have problem children and problem threads, that's the way it has always been and will continue to be. It could be toned down a bit as it seems there have been a rash of crap threads in a row and there are a lot more newer inexperienced people joining who are fairly pig headed.

    Nothing new here.

Take a deep breath, have a cold one.

Just so you folks know, I'm not planning on leaving or threatening to leave. I'm trying to make a point.

Many of you are car buffs, correct? OK, I'll put it to you this way. Let's say that you are the proud owner of a Ferrari.....like this one.....

    1957_Ferrari_250_Testa_Rossa_HR.jpg

You drive it for years, you love it, you learn it, it's a blast to drive and it is dear to your heart.

Then one day someone comes and keys it, slams a bat into two of the quarter panels and takes a knife to both of the seats. It's still dear to your heart, you still love it and it's still a blast to drive..........only because the damage is cosmetic but there is a different element among the midst. It's not quite what it was before and even though it's the same car?

It makes you not even want to drive it.

This is what I have seen recently on this forum. It's the same lovable core group. It's the same members that post consistently. It's the same members that rarely post and it's the same amount of new members that add [debatable/member dependent] to the conversation. Thing is, Club Polk seems to have been damaged lately.

Club Polk, historically, has been a helpful place. A place to get real questions answered by those who have been there. Genuine, honest answers, suggestions and helpful hints or at the very least, directions on which way to steer. This constant *female dogging* and complaining with the constant rebuttals that hold no weight to the subject matter help this forum not one bit. Not one.

So, I guess what I'm saying is that while you would not ever send your Ferrari to the junkyard so that you could get scrap metal from her.....you would try to fix her, no? Well, to many of us, CP is our Ferrari. Let's build her back to the beauty she is.

    Please?

There's nothing wrong with some spirited debate. Everyone can learn from it, if their ego allows. I think personal attacks are unwarranted, and don't serve any real purpose other than to alienate. I can dislike your politics, but it doesn't mean I dislike you.

Maybe this is why our parents generation was always "hush, hush" about politics. You didn't discuss politics because that was as personal as someones religious background. It was just thought of as "rude." Probably a smart unwritten rule, when you think about it. I can remember neighbors talking to my dad on election day, "Hey Ron, who'd ya vote for?" My Dad would grin at them and say "None of your damn business" and then smile at them; they got the hint.
