All this tech, and they can't devise anti-dust collecting computers

Seriously, we're so trying to get ahead in the game of technology yet leave behind some of the most simplest of issues, dust. Why can't these tech brainiacs design computer parts to repel dust instead of attract it. This way I don't have to take my computer apart every several months and clean it out. Seriously!

The thing sits 3' up off the floor, inside a cabinet and I still have to clean it out do to dust build up.

Won't happen until you can have a fanless PC with decent horsepower. Unless you go Ultra Low Voltage, you've gotta have fans! Just think... you're breathing in all that dust, day in and day out, too...
    Ludicrous gibs!

Depending on your computer case, you may be able to add filters. I cut them to size from the cheap 1" furnace filters I have left over from our old furnace. I clean the filters once a month or so with a vacuum, the computer itself about once a year.

Yeah but, I don't have to clean out my lungs, they do it automatically. Why cannot computers do it as well. C'mon, we can send ships into space, hell we can live in space but I can't get an anti-dust computer.

Thin scouring rags/sponges make excellent washable filters also.

How much you willing to pay for lungs for your computer? Most people will throw a computer out before they bother to clean the dust.

That's probably why a filter will do just fine for now

My monitor completely freaks out when dust builds up. The colors go all wonky and distorted. Once I blow all the dust out it's fine. It's such a PITA. I want an Apple where everything is built into the monitor, sealed and wireless. Then, no worries and NO wires! Plus, I hate this Window's junk.

And no decent software to worry about either!

Odd that you blame dust on Windows, my Mac's had fans and got just as dusty.

They do make filters for the fans that you can remove and wash. My Antec P182 has two on the front.

About once a month I blow them out with air along with the CPU heatsink and the rest of the fans......

Its just the price you pay for a computer....and its worse with dogs that shed lol....

there are lots of pcs to choose from that everything is built into the monitor.... there are a lot of downsides to that though... something broke... what now? I want to add a hard drive/video card... what now? or even... you got a dead pixel on your monitor... guess you're without a computer for a few weeks (or screwed).

Basically, you have very few options when you have a system like that (windows or mac, but probably more so with mac)....

    oh and...
Windows is software... you're blaming software for hardware issues.

edit: oh, and just as an afterthought... everyone thinks macs have no issues, because that's what apple tells you... but just surf their forums for a while and you'll find it is quite a different story (with both their hardware and software).

Is this PC in a high dust environment such as a body shop? I've never had to take a PC apart to remove dust buildup.

FWIW, my main PC has reusable filters that I clean once a year or so, and even then they're not clogged.
