Can I control volume of dialog audio and sound effect/music?
My set up: Blu ray hdmi to mitsubishi wd60c10 dlp tv hdmi, Mitsubishi tv coax to digital optical converter to digital optical cable to IHT 6000.
I am having problem with controlling the dialog audio volume and sound effect/music volume. When I was watching few movies, I set my volume to where I can hear the dialog audio clearly and all of the sudden in the movie, stuff started blowing up with the music and holy jesus IT GETS REALLY LOUD. Is there a way to control this seperatly oor othe ways? If I set my volume lower to reduce the sound effect/music, its hard to hear what they are saying. But holy cow

You can go in your BluRay's menu and set your dynamic range setting to "night" or "limit" whatever your player calls it to reduce dynamic range. This will reduce dynamic swings giving the illusion that dialogue is more level with music/effects.
I have my panasonic dmp-bd30 setup to limit dynamic range, for the same reasons. Apparently "wow factor" is more important than listenability anymore. I have a 2-channel HT.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
It seems like I only have one option on the audio setting. I have Sony BDP-BX37
Audio DRC Setting:
1. Auto- Performs playback at the dynamic range specified by the disc(BD-Rom only) other discs are played back at the "standard" level.
2. Standard- Performs playback at a standard compression level.
3. Wide range- No compression works. A more dynamic sound is produced.
Which one do I need to select? Thank you for all the replies -
#2, "Standard". I'm assuming "DRC" means Dynamic Range Control.
Give it a try and see if this helps.
On my panasonic it says "Dynamic Range Compression" and you select "enable" or "disable." During concerts or music I disable compression, but during movies I use compression to correct overly loud effects.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
His tv may also have some sort of dynamic control since he's basically routing it that way. Thumb through the menu screen for the tv and see if anything is available.HT SYSTEM-

You guys are genius. Standard mode worked. I could control more sound from blu ray digital optical to sound bar than tv to sound bar. Thank you
