Splitting the LFE Channel

I have a Denon 2807, two RT 1000s and a PSW 450. In the initial setup, I ran a single RCA cable to the LFE port on the PSW 450 and separate lines to the 1000s. I set 2807 to recognize the mains as LARGE set the sub to LFE+Main. The resultant low end output was weak. Last week, I split the LFE signal to both the 450 and the subs in the RT1000s (disconnecting the horse shoe connector in the rear). I left the mains cabled to L and R. I set the Denon to recognize the sub(s) as LFE (only) and left the mains at LARGE. Then I re-calibrated using the Audyssey MutlEQ system on board. The sound is much fuller and dispersed. I'm wondering if I should set the RT1000s mains to SMALL instead of LARGE and or if I should set the LFE range for the sub to LFE+Main (though that doesn't make much sense). The Denon manual is not so good...

Thanks..
