Been done for a couple years building my dream subs, had an extra brand new pair of these in the wifes home office closet for a rainy day build...no more room in the house for more subs so these can go.

I had these made at the TC Sounds factory when they were still using Titanium cones and LMS Ultra cast frames with high roll Butyl Rubber surrounds , now the new VMP Radiators use aluminum cones and tiny frames (http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=293-682 ) and the less than stellar build newer version Radiators are even backordered until August of 2011  )

These have an extremely high excursion and an adjustable mass ( VMP...Variable Mass Passive ) for tuning your enclosure ( Weights on a massive threaded post ) , very nice to be able to tune a passive radiator design so easily without messy glues and such...can tune these in seconds.

I paid 548 bucks for each pair of these I ordered back in 2007, this pair is brand new in factory packaging just as it was delivered to my door .

I need em gone fast, 250 bucks takes the pair FTF locally in the Bay Area...they are still in the factory shipping boxes/packaging so shipping these would be easy...just pay actual shipping if you want em shipped.

From my saved information on them......

    Introduction

The TC-VMP is the world?s first commercially available high excursion variable mass passive radiator. The TC-VMP operates as a Helmholtz resonator in a bass reflex system just as a port would, but gives you the advantage of being able to tune a small enclosure to a low frequency without sacrificing linearity. IOW small ported systems tuned to low frequencies require very small ports, which are highly restrictive, and generate copious amounts of port distortion and compression. The TC-VMP does not have turbulence distortion, port compression or pipe organ distortion components. TC-VMP has a true user variable tuning frequency that does not sacrifice port velocity to achieve low tuning frequencies for true subwoofer bass extension. The TC-VMP is the highest fidelity passive radiator you can own, and with the innate acoustic advantages and features, once you hear the difference, you?ll forever be sold on well designed PR systems!

    Design

The TC-VMP uses an enormous 10? extremely linear spider, coupled with a tall profile surround and uses our patented high excursion frame. The TC-VMP now stands as the world?s only passive radiator to use an extra wide 10? suspension system. The advantage is that the driver can achieve ultra high excursion without non-linear compliance distortion commonly found is smaller 8? suspension systems. A passive radiator should displace at least two and up to four times the volume of the active woofer. The TC-VMP can work on a 1 to 1 (square inch to square inch) ratio with a 20mm x-max high excursion driver and will work flawlessly in pairs with our higher end drivers. Other passive radiators would have to be used in groups of four or more with our LMS-5400 ultra driver for example.

The VM in the name VMP is Variable Mass. We at TC Sounds have engineered a mechanism whereby the end user can very easily modify the amount of mass used on our Passive Radiators. The end user is able to do this without the need for lead pellets and epoxy / or hot melt glue guns as an example ? which are permanent mass alterations. Changing the weight of a passive radiator varies the resonate frequency (Fs) of the system and is analogous to increasing or decreasing the port length.

An additional advantage of passive radiator systems is that they produce no pipe organ resonance?s which can severely compromise acoustic performance. Low frequency pipe resonance is one of the major draw backs to large vented systems that attempt to compensate for port turbulence with large ports, and can make subwoofers sound less articulate than they would with a well designed passive radiator.

For the ultimate fidelity bass reflex system, look to the benefits of using passive radiators in your next subwoofer project! The TC-VMP is highest excursion, most versatile passive

I wonder how those would affect the sound of the big SRS-SDAs, might be a fun experiment. GLWS:smile:

I'd love to experiment with that idea. If you can spare a few weeks without the sale, I can toss them into Polk R&D and at least get some parameters from them in the chamber so we would know if it's worth the effort.

It's ok, just a pet project for me based on what resources I have handy. Have fun, as they're the best looking PR's I've seen to date.

I've begun breaking down my SRT's and am already overwhelmed with the little stuff I have to do. After all is said and done, I'll have two pairs of speakers that I'll never move or replace. The SRT and my Magnepan 3.6, unless I convince my dealer to take a non-documented child for payment on the 3.7.

Thanks Doro! I am saving up drivers for my pet project too.

I wish there were 4 though so you can have 2 and I can have 2.

Yeah, when you pull these out of the box ...about the only thing that comes to mind is holy crap :)

But these 2 boxes are big , and the wife already tolerates Big Boy SRS 1.2's in her home office ...so when she asked for closet space my driver hoarding took a hit :)

Thanks John, I wish the feedback rating system is working so I can leave you a nice feedback. 10/10

Now, I need someone sells me two TC Ultra 5400 at half the price! :biggrim:
