SR Equivalents

So I have been trying for 3 months now to get a reasonably priced set of SR5250s or 6500s to no avail. So... I have heard good things about the scanspeak illuminators, but what is a good mid for a 2 way system to pair with them? Currently there is a pair of SR6500 on ebay for $650. If i am going to pay that much I think raw drivers would produce a better quality sound.
Was considering SEAS Excel W15LY-001 (E0041) but they are 8ohm which may cause issues with the amp, not sure.
This is an active setup btw in "Stock" 2k8 Honda Accord Coupe locations (Minor angle mods but stock locations). Current Gear:
Genesis Ultra Profile 4
JL HD750/1
SR124 SVC
Custom Built Carputer (Still working on interface)
Second Skin deadened to hell and back
KnuKonceptz wires
Currently JBL MS-8 -> will be 360.3 when its released. Having the carputer will make tuning options endless with the 360.3

Depending on how much you want to spend for the mids, here are some options.

Scans make some of the best drivers that money can buy. The catch with the mids is that they have low Qts values and hence aren't suited for free air applications, i.e. typical door install. They are best suited for sealed of small vented enclosures. So you would either need to mod enclosures within the doors or do kicks to the right size.
For a simple plug and play door install I would look at the Morels. Again very nice and warm sounding mids. You can also go to the Peerless site and look at some of those mids. The Peerless drivers are made locally here.
I would stay away from an 8 ohm mid as that would halve the power to your mids from your amp. A thumbs up on the Scanspeak Illuminator tweets and the Genesis amp. I run both and love them.
With your setup you're going to have great sound once you've tuned everything in. Good Luck. -
ScanSpeak Discovery.
Really hard to beat for the money.
Seas Lotus are also a superb choice if you can afford them.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005
