Tannoy?

My Monitor 40's have been wonderful to me, but I think it's time to start thinking about an upgrade. What do you guys think of Tannoy bookshelf (or stand-mount or whatever term you prefer) speakers? I'm looking for something detailed and precise, with fast woofers and clean (but not harsh) tweeters. Weight in the deep bass isn't a main concern because I think I'm eventually going to support their sound with more laid-back, warmer, full-bodied surrounds. Thoughts?
My Stereo: Tannoy D100s, Yaqin MC-100B, VPI Traveler, Dynavector 10x5 MC Phono Cartridge, heavily modified Yaqin MS-22B phono preamp, TEAC EQA-20 equalizer, Belkin PureAV PF30 Power Conditioner, Canare 4s11 speaker cables, Custom dust cover from DigitalDeckCovers

Tannoy's have a nice smooth sound to them, and image very well."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Perhaps my favorite speaker. I have not heard any of the bookies. But I love their studio monitors and salivate at the thought of listening to their big boy series.-Kevin

But I love their studio monitors....
I have heard from a friend (who is by no means an expert) that studio monitors tend to be a bit too clinical for normal listening. Is this not the case?My Stereo: Tannoy D100s, Yaqin MC-100B, VPI Traveler, Dynavector 10x5 MC Phono Cartridge, heavily modified Yaqin MS-22B phono preamp, TEAC EQA-20 equalizer, Belkin PureAV PF30 Power Conditioner, Canare 4s11 speaker cables, Custom dust cover from DigitalDeckCovers -
I would not call Tannoy's monitors clinical. Other brands such as Yamaha, yes."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

It's always a matter of personal preference at home.
In a studio, it's a matter of accuracy. Accurate monitors might be considered clinical, but serve their purpose in that you want to have a really good baseline for what you are recording/mixing.
Tannoy makes a fine speaker. I will probably never own the ones I'd like to have, but one can dream.

Are you talking about there studio line or residencial line? do you have a specific model you are looking at?
if you are looking at their studio line, They only have TRS or XLR connections no RCA connection.
when I was looking into studio quality monitor speakers I actually tried KRK 5's and Adam audio, the Adam's actually had a nice feature in which the power and volume control is in the front and the speakers can be wired so that volume control for both speakers can be done by one of the speakers in a master - slave config.Current HT setup

I was interested in the Residential line, particularly the Revolution DC4 or DC6. I'm not particularly interested in active speakers, and a lack of RCA connection would be an issue for me.My Stereo: Tannoy D100s, Yaqin MC-100B, VPI Traveler, Dynavector 10x5 MC Phono Cartridge, heavily modified Yaqin MS-22B phono preamp, TEAC EQA-20 equalizer, Belkin PureAV PF30 Power Conditioner, Canare 4s11 speaker cables, Custom dust cover from DigitalDeckCovers

Also starting to look at Epos (models such as M12.2, M5i, Epic 1 et c.). How do these brands compare? Am I looking in the right places for detail and precision? My Stereo: Tannoy D100s, Yaqin MC-100B, VPI Traveler, Dynavector 10x5 MC Phono Cartridge, heavily modified Yaqin MS-22B phono preamp, TEAC EQA-20 equalizer, Belkin PureAV PF30 Power Conditioner, Canare 4s11 speaker cables, Custom dust cover from DigitalDeckCovers

I would recommended the DC6 for the added low end extension."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

Does that extension (by way of larger woofer and cabinet, I imagine) sacrifice much by way of tightness and clarity? I plan on using these with a subwoofer and perhaps even another pair of speakers to fill out the lower registers anyway, and I wouldn't want to give up too much detail for a bit more oomph in the bass.My Stereo: Tannoy D100s, Yaqin MC-100B, VPI Traveler, Dynavector 10x5 MC Phono Cartridge, heavily modified Yaqin MS-22B phono preamp, TEAC EQA-20 equalizer, Belkin PureAV PF30 Power Conditioner, Canare 4s11 speaker cables, Custom dust cover from DigitalDeckCovers

They are the Eryis DC-3JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut) -
Do those have a stand-mountable little brother?
