A legend, and FAR above Elvis. Thank you for the reality check.
Recently listened to a 1999 interview with Mitch Miller, and he said he thought there was only 2 types of music - good music and bad music ...
I believe Frank is on the good side !
FWIW, Whitburn says he (Frank Sinatra) is " regarded by many as the greatest popular singer of the 20th century"

Before Michael Jackson, Elvis was the king of pop. NOT rock and roll, even though everyone called him the king of rock and roll. He was an American Idol style pop singer who had really good endurance. I don't think he wrote any of his songs, only played a little guitar and not that well. He was an amazing singer and interpreter of songs. That's all, and I don't think that makes him the best anything. Just like MJ, he became a drug addicted parody of himself. Just like MJ, his over bloated ego gave him serious delusions of grandeur which displayed itself in very quirky behaviour. Just like MJ he died really young from excess. They both achieved huge greatness and had incredible talent but I don't think either was "the best" at anything, selling records aside, although Michael sure could dance.SDA-1C (full mods)

After some research, i found presley to be the Best, in regards of million selling singles, Million selling albums, The best, acording to the RIAA, If the riaa, counted presleys million selling singles, along with his albums, he would easily overtake everyone in that regard, Why they dont count all certfied formats, is beyond me, Id put him in my top 5, with Led Zeppelin on top,
Sure sounds good coming out of the Infinity Kappa 9'sPolkAudioClyde -
Look! There goes nap. Yo, King!!!
Mike,
Just remember one thing. It was probably good to be The King, he never had to look far for pie. -
I don't like lists, and rankings, but I would say that I don't particularly enjoy many of his songs. That being said, there is something very significant to being first, or revolutionary. It's like someone saying who is better - Bach or Beethoven - well, opinions differ, but they were both extremely significant to the music.

Elvis's greatness came from him breaking open the whole music scene back in the 50s. He wasn't the first one to do R&B or rock, but he was the first one to achieve long-term success with them....long enough to let the music to be accepted into mainstream society. Don't forget that back then, racial segregation still existed on the radio. When Sun Records' Sam Phillips signed Elvis to his first record contract, Phillips wanted "....a white man who had the Negro sound and the Negro feel...." Elvis' success also led to exposure to the general public for those black artists who Elvis covered ("Hound Dog" by "Big Mama" Thornton, Arthur Crudup's "That's All Right", etc.). Obviously, those who came after Elvis have sold more records, rocked harder, and done many things better. However, it was Elvis who path the way for the likes of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, etc.
There're reasons why the man is in 3 music hall of fame....Rock 'n Roll, Country, and Gospel.
Btw, Priscilla is more than just a pretty face....she's the reason why Elvis is doing so well, financially speaking, after his death. Not to mention still selling a lot records. Get this....Elvis has scored 4 #1 hits on the UK singles chart between 2000-2010. -
sales are misleading, gone with the wind put far, far more fannys in the seats than any other movie, also has caught the attention of the public for so many reasons.
I have always liked elvis, for his showmanship, southern boy, and he never became intrigued by how a mans intestines might fell on littlle elvis, like so many british greats, rod stewart, jagger, bowie on and on and on.
By the way have you guys ever heard of the race subset elvis was descended from, not kidding.
along with ava gardner, abe lincoln, and quite a few other stars they were descended at least in part, from a eastern european group, called somthing like the mogongs mulogongs or something like that, sorry, its been a long time since i saw the tv show about it.
just looked it up, they are called melungeon, a tri race mainly in appalachia, consisting of african, native and white americans.
Listed are tom hanks heather locklear and steve martin.
also some stuff on the site is about the lost tribe of israel and other beliefs.
interesting, even if much is just legend or lore apparently the heritage is proven.
they are generally characterized as having darker features thick black hair , large eyes and usually considered very attractive, sorta in an italian vein.
Im not makin this stuff up, i will try to look it up later.humpty dumpty was pushed -

His dad was a blond haired man.
His ancestors, like everyones was mixed, look it up.

Elvis was a pretty good interpretive performer and I enjoy a lot of his music. He was however far ahead of his time in that his managers and handlers carefully controlled his performance, choice of songs, etc. in the same way a Britney Spears is managed today. I would call him the King of Performers because he raised and set the bar for delivering a music performance. King of Rock and Roll ............. I vote for Buddy Holly!DKG999

Sarcasm or for real ???? -
I always think that despite what Elvis achieved, he could've been so much more if he wasn't controlled by Colonel Parker.

No, that's for real.
