My Crown XTI 1000 (amp for subwoofer) decided to quit today. Lately the power button has been sticking a little bit, but I've always been able to fiddle with it a bit and get it back out. I generally just leave it on, but today I turned it off to move it back and when I tried to power it on again - nothing. I opened it up and checked the fuse with a multimeter at 1x - the meter maxed out and it showed 0 ohm. I swapped the power cord and made sure the power conditioner was working. Any other ideas? The only place that I can take it to around here charges $80/hour just to open the thing up.

If 0 ohm on your meter = infinite then you need to replace the fuse. It's blown.

XTi-Series amplifier is backed by Crown’s Three-Year, No-Fault, Fully Transferable Warranty.

    How old is the amp?

Yeap... Sounds like the fuse went. You can also visibly check the continuity of the fuse to see if there's a gap in the metal. But this is a little harder to see and checking with a DCM is a surefire way to do it.

If the power switch continues to stick it's about time to take some deoxit to it and lube it up a bit.

Unfortunately, the amp is outside of the warrantly period. I've had it for over three years and bought it used anyway. I'll have to check the fuse again - it's a ceramic fuse, so I can't see if there is a gap in the metal. I thought if the fuse showed 0 ohms or infiinity that it meant the fuse was good - guess that's why I'm an accountant. Thanks for the help.

Infinity means an open circuit. If your meter has a tone generator you can use that also. No tone? Blown fuse.
