I had the original pass design 555's, but yours probably sound similar. I ran my SDA2b's with one and was pleased. I liked my Parasound HCA-1200 a little more with Polks however. On my CRS+'s I was running a B&K reference and It was pretty awesome. Although, I've now got an Odyssey Stratos and a Classe Audio Seventy that won't let me miss those others. But the 555 was my favorite for quite a long while and an excellent amp.

I've yet to hear a Rotel that I really liked. Just my opinion.

Never heard the Rotel,, but the 555 was kinda' bright with my SDA's--give ben a call/pm--he knows how to tame em a bit.
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

Sorry guys, I know this subject is quite subjective but a little insight from guys who have played with different amps and sdas is helpful. I am going to have around $2,000 to play with at the end of the month but I was thinking of getting an OPPO BDP-95 so that will leave around $1,000 to get an amp.

Parasound with SDA's is a very good choice

I agree with George....Parasounds are nice and you have enough money there for a used piece. You could even consider a pre and an amp, perhaps?

Or you could go BIG with an Adcom GFA-5802--probably more power than you'll ever need for 2As. I have two Adcoms (545 and the 555) and both are great value amps. Your pre will affect how bright those sound because they're not really that bright with a neutral/passive pre on them. If your 2As still have the original SL2000 tweeter it will be hard to tame that, though.

But I also like the Parasounds a lot. Another option would be to consider a 'tube' amp. Tubes mate well with SDAs. I'm not the expert on that, of course. GD and Brock, Ted and a number of others can chime in with a wealth of knowledge and experience there. I'm just getting my 'feet' wet in the tube world at the moment.

Even the earlier HAC Parasounds sounded well with my SDA's,,, the big one A-21? IIRC was fantastic--shoot F-1 a pm-- he can offer some great suggestions and first hand experience for amps in your price range-- well worth the time--good luck in your search--let us know what you end up with,,,the hunt is half the fun.

It looks like there is a authorized Parasound Halo dealer right in the town I live. I'll have to go check it out the A-23 looks like a good unit spec wise.
