Is it me or can you tell a difference between the M70's with and without their covers. I think I can tell a difference but I'm not sure if it's my head messing with...like I'm supposed to hear a difference....thoughts? What do most people do?

I know on my rti's they get a tad brighter without the grills on but that's about it.

Most? I pull the grills to show off for company, leave the grills on so little 3yr old doesn't "polk" the drivers and tweeter.

Ive noticed absolutely no difference having the covers off on my 70s, 60s or cs2. I leave them on 90% of the time to help protect the drivers.

I also feel that speakers with covers were designed having the covers in mind and therefor should sound just fine with them on.

Also, in my opinion the regular monitor series (not the II's from newegg) look silly with no covers...that silver bezel just doesn't do it for me aesthetically.

The Monitor 70's in my office are left with no covers. I also repainted the silver facia to a flat black. Otherwise the covers would stay on.

The RTi A7's in the main system, covers stay on. Between the Wife and two 90lb German Shepherds, I can rarely take them off. :frown:

I prefer no covers, I feel like it opens up the sound a little more.

I would bet you hear a difference because you are looking right at the tweeter. I doubt the difference would be so significant that you could hear it. But then again I wasn't there.

I really don't notice a difference in sound but the covers are off unless the grandkids are around.

I feel they are a bit brighter as well. I'm not sure it really makes a difference though. Thanks for your responses. I'll probably leave mine off until the kids invade the man cave.....then it's batten down the hatches....
