Hey Guys,
I am seriously looking at installing two Polk SR 104-DVC subs because of the very high reviews I have read and Polk is just a quality brand. I have never had a system in my car before but for some reason I have my mind set on these and have for over a year now..

So my question is for the amp...
Someone suggested the Alpine PDX M12
But I just looked at the Polk Audio P1200.1 and it also looked promising...
To my knowledge the Alpine is not quite as customizable as the Polk is...

Or what are your guys' input as to a good amp to run 2x SR 104-DVCs??? I am open to suggestions

I think I will be running a Pioneer DEH-P6200BT for my head unit. But I am not set in stone for that either and am open for opinions. I will be playing music primarily through iPod and the occasional CD. I do not care about satellite radio or HD radio all that stuff is a bonus.

Thank you guys in advance

Id recommend the PA1200.1. It's the amp I'm running and it works great over the last 3 years. Lots of power and some cool features.

    + 1 on Polk 1200.1
If you ask me it was custom-made for SR subs - all specs/ohms/watts are exact match, doesn't get better then that.

Are these subs like extremely loud? Because I am kind of worried that I may be getting too much power... I am thinking sealed enclosure... But should I go with dual sealed or 2 single sealed enclosures? What about Bandpass?

Ok so that one amp would be good for both of them? And thats awesome because it is also cheaper :)

Yes, PA1200.1 is ideal for 2 srs as long as they are DVC.
And while 2 of SR subs CAN get loud they are sound quality subs first and formost.
You can also dial the gain donw/up from your seat with included gain remote control every PA1200.1 comes with so if you do find it too loud you can simply turn it down a bit... or a lot lol, whichever you want.

And forget bandpass, go sealed with these subs.

ok so sealed enclosure. Should i go with 2 seperate enclosures or 1 dual sealed?

And as for my head unit: I am looking at
    - Pioneer DEH-P6200BT for my head unit at this time
    BUT
    someone mentioned Clarion...
Do you guys have any other suggestions? or should i stick with that one?

I will be going with the PA 1200.1 and 2x SR 104 DVCs

Both would work but I would go for the later. It also depends on the space you have.

Depends on what you want from the hu and how much you want to spend. Make a list of the features you want and then search for a unit that offers them. I would add features like time alignment a good eq etc to the list that make.

Pio / Alpine / Clarion / Kenwood are all good brands.

Yeah, Pioneer and Clarion are pretty much equal in terms of build quality. A $250 Pioneer will be as good as a $250 Clarion. The difference will be in tuning features. You'll want as many as you can get.

And 2 sealed boxes vs 1 sealed doesn't matter so long as they both have enough airspace. So a 2 ft3 box won't be any different than a pair of 1 ft3 boxes.

So I ended up ordering 1x SR104-DVC sub as I decided I didn't want to shake the person beside me but just have a nice clear and powerful sub. Should I still get the PA1200.1 or should I now be looking at a different amp to power the one sub?

I also decided on the Clarion CZ501 Deck. And I am just waiting until I buy my new car in order to be certain it will fit :)... But I am almost positive it will!

I am excited to receive my new sub and thank you guys for your help thus far. I will be making a Sealed box for it this summer and then storing it until its time for it to shine :D

    I'd still say PA1200.1

    1. it will still give your DVC sub the wattage it needs.
    2. it will run at 2Ohms which is a breeze for it, very minimal overheating if any at all. Basically you will not stress it
    3. you will have that extra headroom u will need if you ever decide to get another sub.
    4. price difference between PA1200.1 and whatever other amp that will fit your sub is minimal.

btw your set up is basically the same as mine so i'm talking from "hands-on" here, not just going by specs. The only difference is that i got 12'' and you got 10''

    Nice, Thank you Vital!

So I will be getting that with it then. How do you like your SR124? Because didn't you buy 2 SR104s as well? How were they in comparison?

Guys, correct me if I'm wrong.

Two 104-DVC subs would present a 4 ohm load on an amp and therefore with a PA1200.1 only 200 watts would go to each sub?

Is 200 watts enough for a sub that can handle 700 watts?

one SR104-DVC will present 2ohms load to the amp
two SR104-DVCs will present 1 ohm.

I see. I didn't realize the amp could do 1 ohm!

What would you guys think the minimum amount of power is needed for one of these, either the 10 or 12 version? I would have about 500 watts. Is this enough?

As long as u're not raising gain on your amp to "make up for lower wattage" u'll be fine.
