12v trigger help

Not quite sure what to do. I have an Onk 807 with an RI outlet and 12v trigger zone 2 - 3 outlets. My XPA-3 came with a 12v trigger cord and I'm not hitting the mark.
The RI would indicate needing a code but the amp does not have a remote, would I connect to zone 2 on the receiver and push the zone 2 button on the remote to activate?
