Feeling retro? How about a new car with a cassette deck? A new Commodore 64?

You want a new car with a factory cassette deck? I know it's 2011 but you can still get such a beast.
Tired of those tiny laptop keyboards....get yourself a brand-new "Made in the USA" Commodore 64
Can't wait until my "Porsche Design" sunglasses comes back into vogue. I'm already growing out my hair for my eventual mullet.

Don't forget to dust off your parachute pants. -
The PET right, I remember that. Came out when I was in Grad School--one of my roommates--a physicist--was the son of one of the owner/founders of Commodore. Talk about memories. I remember Leonard (how appropriate a name for those familiar with the Big Bang Theory) would show us the various games on his all-in-one-machine.
BTW, I 'never' had a mullet.

I had the best mullet ever. You wouldn't know it now, but I've got better hair than most women. Very Samson-esq when I grow my locks.
Bring on the parachute pants and glacier glasses.Check your lips at the door woman. Shake your hips like battleships. Yeah, all the white girls trip when I sing at Sunday service. -

Are you talking about the Carrera's? I think my dad is still wearing his pair from the 80's when he was a pilot.

How about a "Members Only" jacket?
Don't laugh, I think I still have mine. A few years back they were selling them at Burlington Coat Factory, couldn't believe it. -

I remember the PET. My grandfather had one. There was a great game on there that used an age old technology called words to describe the adventure you were on. Great game, never passed it though.
Also, the Commodore 64 (original) had some great games on it. "Space Taxi" comes to mind. Or "Erebus". I don't think it's possible to pass this game it is so difficult. The "rotating magnetic discs" would always get you.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion."
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

So just when did all these items become passe?

I still miss my Commodore 128."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

You buy that new Commodore 64, it comes with an emulator for the old C64 OS on it as well as a bevy of games IIRC.Expert Moron Extraordinaire

I still miss my Commodore 128.
I still have my C64 and 1541 drive. I doubt they work but I've kept them around to do a mod once technology got faster, smaller, and cooler. However, for $299, I can relive my youth. lol -
Face, I had one too. Wife made me give it away. Then I got another one given to me. After a while I decided to give it away too. I loved my C-128. It was my first computer.
Now whenever I get an itch I simply fire up an emulator and play some. It's easier than keeping one around. You have to choose which toys go in your storage case. -

You can get a new CPU add-on, Hard drives, RAM expansions, Ethernet, even an SD reader. But by the time you get all that you end up spending quite a bit of money. Then you have a limited amount of hardware that can take advantage of it.
Vice (emulator) has the ability to emulate quite a bit of expansion hardware. Again, toy priority keeps me from spending money and satiating my C-128 memories via emulation. -
Oh and if anyone is looking for a slick, clean HTPC, check out those Amiga 1000, 2000 and 3000 cases.
One of them has a ton of internal slots. If you feel the need to fill them, you can get 4TB SATA disks in an array and either RAID them or JBOD them if you don't care about backups and data integrity. With 6 internal hard drive slots, that's about 24TB of data space. Make a great looking and well performing HTPC or media server.
