I have no idea how it happened and I'm sure it's a really easy fix but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get Google back to the English language.

Can someone in the know tell me how to switch it back?

I think it's currently in French. Thanks in advance for your help.

You could go into your settings, bu tthey'll be tough to traverse if you don't speak French :)

If you just go and clear your cookies and cache it'll probably reset to the default (English).
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Did you do an advanced Search? If not I have no idea how it would switch.

Is it all in another language or just results? If just results click on advanced search next to the search bar and change language preference to English. Otherwise GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Had this exact same problem a few weeks ago. Interestingly, it only happened on my laptop, not on the desktop that is hardwired.

A quick google search (can't find the link quickly right now otherwise I'd repost here) instructed to re-set the cache, clear cookies...basically re-set my browser settings to default....and then reset my modem & router. Apparently there was some google system bug that was mislabeling where IP addresses were coming from. Resetting everything helped me.

There is also the "google in english" button that can help in a pinch.

Only part of the results are in another language. The key words are still in English. Advanced search rendered nothing that could help me [at least in English]. I've checked the settings and I got to a page with a whole myriad of national flags. The only issue was that the American flag wasn't there. DOH! The only one I need.

I'll try to reset cache and cookies....

I have this problem every couple of months. Just clear your internet cache history and the problem will be solved.

ARRRGH! I just Googled something and saw that the left side of the links are still in [or back too] another language. Here's what I see...

    Images
    Vid?os
    Actualit?s
    Shopping

    Plus

    Rechercher les pages en fran?ais

Clearing the cache and cookies for all history does not work. Sorry to bring it back up but how do I fix this?

Yea, WTH.........mine started doing the exact same thing last night.

All the settings and preferences for all things internet are stored in cookies (outside browser-specific options).

Delete all your cookies, close the browser, then try again. If it's STILL like that, contact Google...there's something persisting that shouldn't be.

I also had this happen, and clearing and resetting to browser would only reset it to English for a day or a week. It was weird because it was only when I was logged into my google account, and it would happen on most computers I logged into, but not all. I dealt with the problem for two months, and now it hasn't happened in a month. One rumor was it was a hack or infection within gmail/google, but changing my password didn't fix anything. It's definitely weird for sure...

Well, I tried clearing the cache and cookies again to no avail.

So, I went into Google's main page [or at least the one I have bookmarked] and selected Language tools. Scrolled down a bit and hit Preferences. Scrolled down all the way and hit Save preferences.

Didn't change anything, I did exactly as I mentioned and now all of Google is back in English. At least for now. It doesn't really make sense because I didn't really do anything accept save the preferences that were already there but try that and see if it works for you next time it happens.

I have a similar issue, but with Yahoo. Whenever I watch a video on my yahoo homepage that has a "commercial" preceeding the video...the commercial is in spanish. Not the video itself...just the commercial. It really doesn't matter...because I mute the commerical out until the video actually starts...It's just curious as to why it does so. NOTHING in my setup or acct info has spanish as a preferred language.
