I have a pair of the LS/FX surrounds, but the left and right stickers are gone. How can I figure out which is which? I have looked at the schematics and looked inside the speakers but I am quite unsure which drivers should be facing the front and the back.

Thanks

Ryan

The bipole/dipole switchable surrounds that came out around the time of the RTxx series? Triangular, same drivers on the two baffles? If so, I don't think it matters which is left and which is right.

Yeah, i'm running them in dipole. Isn't one side in phase and the other out of phase? Wouldn't you want the in phase pointing towards the front of the room and the out of phase towards the back?

Since you put it that way, you may be right. There was a thread on here or possibly something in the owner's manual about placement with those, damn if I can remember where I read it. If they're close to your seating position, out of phase should point toward you to make the sound more diffuse. Opposite's true for placement further away.

A nine volt battery should make the woofers move. The drivers in phase should move out when the speaker terminals are touched to the battery terminals positive/positive and negative/negative. Don't think it should harm anything, but may want to try with a friend's speakers first.

I had them years ago, when our television was used for things other then the Sprout Network and Celebrity Apprentice and the walls had speakers hanging from them instead of valances and curtains....

I am not sure this will help but facing the TV the left speaker has the positive post towards the TV and the negative towards the rear wall. The right speaker has the negative post towards the TV and the positive towards the wall.

Doesn't matter, whenever I switch them I get the same post settings. Right now The right has the + facing the TV - facing wall. Left has - facing tv + facing wall. With them this way the tweeters with the green/black and green wiring face the back of the room if that helps anything according to the schematic.

you want the dipole/bipole switch on the side thats pointing toward the front. At least that is how it is set up on my F/X1000's. But I think yours will likely be the same. I'll look in the manual tonight.

Alright it looks like I have some work to do tomorrow. I appear to have set things up wrong. I just move my speakers from up close to the ceiling to just above ear level. When I had them up high I had the tapered end down per the recommendation of the instruction manual but when I moved them to ear level I left the tapered end down. However, the instruction manual says I should have the tapered end up when the are away from the ceiling. So if I move things like they should be the left speaker with tapered end up then the tweeter with the green/black and green wire will be facing forward.
Sorry if I am making this worse. Hopefully if I got this wrong someone else will help out.

Ok, i'll swicth them then. I found one serial number sticker in one of my drawers for the right speaker. I'll tape it onto the correct speaker.
