Pretty good deal?

Well...I finally bought an amp over the weekend. And it just happened to come with a bunch of other stuff too. Decided to look at CL on Saturday morning and I saw someone selling a Parasound HCA-2003 amp and some other Parasound gear, so I called him up to possibly buy it. The ad had a listed price of $400, but I ended up paying $350 in the end.

I ended up with the 2003, a Parasound P/SP-1000 (which I don't even know what I'm going to do with that), a Parasound TDQ-1600 tuner, a Sonance Sonamp260, some triangle shaped Atlantic Technology surround speakers, a monstrous AT center speaker, a bunch of cables(average at best), and a Bello AV rack. Everything works perfectly, but looks to be about a 7/10 cosmetically.

Did I get the seemingly great deal that I think I did?

I will say that for HT it has already made a huge difference in clarity. For 2 channel it sounds better, but not as remarkably noticeable as the HT experience was.

A three channel Para. for 350..Yeah, I'd say that's pretty good as that unit has good power and headroom. You should also be able to hear that on the M70s better than you seem to describe above. I know I can really hear the difference on a Denon AVR-2807 with and without the 200/channel Adcom. It' pretty noticeable.

What do you have the M-70s set at? Small or Large. Because I find that you have to have them set to LARGE or FULL range if you want to actually hear the difference with a power amp, and that you also should try running them without the SUB! First with just the AVR, then in two channel with the Parasound. You will here a difference.

I have them set at large and my sub doesn't get much work in 2 channel because the M70's do just fine IMO. I can definitely hear a difference in 2 channel, but the HT just blew me away. I put the first Transformers in and listened for a bit and was amazed by how different it sounded. Everything is just simply...better!

I need to get some better IC's, but I'm uncertain as to what I'm going to buy. Might just have to make a quick jog down to Parts Express and see what they have.

I thought that the amp was worth the money, but I didn't know much about everything else. The tuner sounds really good IMO as well and it's a lot nicer than using the tuner in my receiver.

$350 for all of that? I'd say you got a GREAT deal. Congrats and enjoy. BTW, I have the same tuner and I think it's a solid performer for the price and I paid $100 for mine.

I think that you missed a deal cincycat, but I don't think that it was up very long and I just happened to be lucky enough to cruise around on CL that day. I'll check CL 5 days straight and find nothing it seems, then I won't look for a while and I'll see something only to find out that it's been sold already! I don't know why the guy was selling everything, but I'm sure glad he was!

I think my gf will enjoy the tuner more than I will because she likes listening to the radio more than me, but I know I'll enjoy it a lot more than my AVR tuner. Plus, the gf will be able to figure out how to use it much easier!
