Today I'm listening to Supertramp (Crime of The Century). The more I listen to them, the more I'm addicted. The wide soundstage and incredible imaging. I was just reclining back and the music just seemed to envelop me. My wife is at work and I'm home early due to a dental appointment. Volume levels are high and I'm in nirvana. I know this is a rediculous thread, but hell I just had to share.

cool.
have you replaced the Sl2000 tweeters in those 2A's? it's worth it..PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert  -
They're really nice speakers if you have the room...but mine are currently in a closet because of all the 'spacing' requirements--I can only use them in the basement but when I do I obstruct my Rti-A HT system by having to place the SDAs in from of the L/R speakers. So till I figure out the logistics I continue to run my old JBL cerca 1980s Home Monitors--am looking forward to applying a new tube amp to them because I really think they'll like that. The JBLs don't give you that all-encompassing SDA-experience, but they image fine, reach DEEP, and have a superior tweeter to the SL-2000 standard in the original SDAs. Some day I'd like to line the two up next to each other and switch back and forth and decide what the final word is. Of course, I'll have to go RDO-194s on the SDAs because there is NO way they can win the battle of the highs without tweeter upgrades at this point. The JBL 035Ti (tweeter) is still one of my favorites--nice detail, very very fast, and not that sharp for a metal dome (at least not to these old ears!).
Having said that...if you have the space...the SDA effect can be intoxicating. But another problem is that NOT all recordings play 'well' with the effect. Some are awesome, others you barely notice the effect!
Glad you're enjoying yours. When the new amp arrives I'll have to decloset the SDAs again and whip a few tubes on them and see what I think.

It's a crime not to hear Supertramp on some SDA's.

I hear ya about space. I sold my RTIA's H/T set up as no room to have both. I am going to do the tweet upgrade before too long. I also get what your saying about having the right recording for the sda effect. Crime of The Century is great for the effect."They're always talking about my drinking, but never mention my thirst" Oscar Wilde

SDA's are very addicting, I should know. They have multiplied like rabbits in my house. Upgrading to RDO 194's is the way to go. Enjoy your SDA 2A's.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,

I've been to Bcomet's house and let me tell you he has one large room there that is a veritable Vintage Polk 'museum'. He should charge members fees for 'pilgrimages' to the shrine. lol

A true underdog of the SDA line.
They are very surprising for there size. -
Crime of the Century's on SDAs is an album that brings out the 20' piano effect on some tracks. Part of it is how it's recorded and part of it is that they actually had dual pianos playing on either side of the stage.

The joy these things bring us is the very thing most of us love to hear about.
some of the snooty astronomical post count might try to berate your enthusiasm in a 'grand' stand, but they are old bitter jerks.
most of us love the sharing of audio love, by the way, supertramp is superior music.
god bless.humpty dumpty was pushed -
I would love to see these things, how come I can't bring them up on the vintage list.
