I took my tweeters out of my speakers and they are tiny!

I don't know if size is indicative of cost, but I feel jipped!

I broke one of them while taking it out... how much you bet they are going to be like $75-100 for a replacement? Someone has them for 150 on ebay as a pair eek

It would be better than them wanting $275.00 for one, huh?

    Monitor Audio Silver 8i

The Lsi vifas are like monsters compared to these... after seeing this, I am highly considering DIY for my next set of speakers.

I'd replace it and look for a new pair of speakers. Polk's new LSi's are right around the corner.

I was just talking to Vr3MxStyler2k3 about modding the crossovers... I actually have them all packed and ready to go... in fact, that is why I was taking these apart in the first place to even have the opportunity to break my tweeter... I was hoping maybe it could be fixed

Think I shouldn't bother having him mod them? It's not gonna be too expensive and I probably won't replace my speakers until after I get a job (4 months, hopefully)... and hell, maybe I should just go through with it if only because I had to remove all the drivers just to get the XO's out :P

That tab should connect to a very thin wire inside the face plate. If you're able to disassemble the tweeter, you may be able to reconnect the lead back to the tab. Be very careful soldering it back together though, as too much heat will damage the lead and/or voice coil.

Vr3MxStyler2k3 said I can send it to him along with my XO's and he can check it.

That's probably my best bet... as you can see, my hands don't work well with small parts... I have a tendency to break them.

Do I see Monitor Audio on the label?AFAIK they either manufacture their own or have custom drivers built for them.So to keep them as original spec you'll need to source the the original MA part. That tweet looks to have a Neodymium magnet structure which because of it's increaed magnetic strength vs ferrite, allows for a large reduction in size.

We will definitely give it a shot :)

I have had to fix a few tweeters before - obviously never worked on this one but will do my best :)
