If you have main speakers that image well (I have the sda 2.3s) do you need a center channel? I just got done watching LOTR and I couldnt tell that I was missing my center (set reciever to no center). Am I missing anything by not having a center? Do I gain anything by having a center channel?

When you select no center your avr sends the center signal to your mains. A center channel on top or below the screen anchors the dialog to the screen. W/O a center, it can seem like the voices are a bit out of sync.

With those speakers, sitting in the sweet spot, it might sound better.

The center is there to amplify the vocals and the center image in movies, most of the time if you have good speakers you wont be able to tell the difference (which is a good thing)
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
