The sound quality of this movie is awesome, even in VHS the house was shaking. The movie is great, great action scenes. Worth a buy! I know this dosn't come out to Tuesday, and since I just watched it about 2 minutes ago I thought I would post just for giggles...lol

Twin Towers will not be out till November with the SE and DTS. Anything before that is just so so. YOu want the sound of dts and the extra battle footage. I am waiting the good stuff. LOL

Twin towers? Sorry, couldn't help it.
I'm holding out for The Two Towers EE version as well, but am anxious to hear reviews on the first release.Mains: polkaudio RTi70's (bi-wired)

You guys are nuts! Buy the theatrical version - I've heard it is killer. DD is nothing to shake a stick at - good stuff. DD gets a bad rap when it shouldn't.
Yes, the DTS will be better and I'll get that one too - but we're talking LOTR here folks - worth $15 easily to hold me over until November. Hell, I've spent more $$ for less content and quality; this one's a no brainer.

Anyone know where the best price for TT is? I'm guessing someplace like BestBuy or Circuit City.Home Speakers polkaudio RTi70's (bi-wired), CSi30, FX3000i, PSW250

I may rent TTT this week, but I am going to wait to buy the extented edition. Its going to be great.
-
The only reason I'd consider buying the theatrical releases is mostly because they are on one disk instead of two. My 13-year old wants the one disk DD version of all 3 movies. I already have FOTR in both theatrical (which I may give to my son) and EE. And he wants the one disk version of TTT for his upcoming B'day. Bottom line is he'll likely have all 3 on the 1-disk version and I'll have all 3 on the 2-disk version.
My wife is still wondering why the hell I'd want Saving Private Ryan (in DTS) if I already have it (in DD). Still saving up for that idea. I think BB had it on sale for 12.99 last week and I was going to pick it up today, only to find out that it's back up to 14.99. I know, I know, only 2 bucks (sometimes I'm a real Henry Potter), but the main reason I didn't pick it up today is because I was just too pissed off that they did that. It was tempting to get it anyway since I just got my SVS. Maybe I'll get it soon, as I hear it really blows away the DD version.Mains: polkaudio RTi70's (bi-wired)

SPR DTS does blow away the DD version. It's worth it - an SVS show off DVD for sure. And that's another reason to get TTT - the battle for middle earth is loaded with bass!"What we do in life echoes in eternity"

Looking forward to picking this up tomorrow. The dd on this will be excellent, no need to wait until November for dts. Each release has different extras and such, I've got to own both releases of each film.
I also can't wait to see what RotK footage is on this.
Peace Out~:DIf...

I took advantage of the Blockbuster TTT card. Twenty nine bucks is good for seven rentals and a copy of TTT when released. So it's basically free. Hell, I'm good for a rental a week anyway so it's just common sense. I'll probably buy the extended version as well like last year. Is this just a Texas Blockbuster thing or do any of you guys have the same deal offered?
-
Yeah.....Steve. They got that offer up here too at our Blockbuster. I'd rather just pay $15 somewhere though. What would be nice though is if they match a competitor's price and still give you the free rentals. I'd probably feel a little guilty if I manipulated some teenager working a summer job at Blockbuster though.Home Speakers polkaudio RTi70's (bi-wired), CSi30, FX3000i, PSW250

I have it in my hand, the WS version (traded 4 old VHS movies for it), the heck with November...will deal with that later...may be I will wait until next December(2004) to get the completed set of all 3 movies in one package (the extreme edition) with the DTS-ES track and ebay the DD versions. At the meantime, I just gonna to sit back and relax and enjoy my movie tonight...DD EX is just fine for now, my PSW 1200 can compensate for bass track if there is any thing that missing...cheers:)

I have TTT WS in hand; $14.99 BB with a CC price match.
FOTR is a great movie, isn't it Cliff? Beyond that, the EE DTS 6.1 Discrete soundtrack is just fabulous.
How did the PB1-ISD perform on the bass? Did it add another dimension to the movie that was previously missing with the 404? While the Ring Drop is fun, there are some other really good bassy scenes in that movie: the Ring Wraiths leaving the castle, the cave troll fight, the Bridge of Khazad Dum, the Balrog fight, etc.

I'm holding out for the extended edition.
As a side note, the extended DVD versions are going to be released back into theaters several weeks before Return of the King. They'll run fellowship for about 1-2 weeks, then TTT for 1-2 weeks, then the last one comes out.
The extended versions will only be released to certain theaters. It won't be a large scale release.
Micah and the Baltimore boys...I bet Senator gets them. Saw the first two there and it was incredible!
JohnNo excuses! -
Click HERE for more info on the release of the EE to theaters....leading up to a worldwide Dec. 16 daylong marathon, during which all three films will be shown back-to-back. Exhib guidelines call for a 3 p.m. showing of "Fellowship" followed by a 7 p.m. screening of "Two Towers" and then an 11 p.m. screening of "Return of the King," which will carry over into Dec. 17 -- the day of its global release.
Excuse me while I say....Holy **** Batman! Judas Priest, I could not image spending nearly 12 hours inside a theater. You know only the die-hard LotR physco's will be in there.

ED, you can only imagine until you actually use a SVS pb1 what it can do to a movie, Yes the rest of LOTR after the ring drop was great!! I mean in a dark room with the A/C on high you get that cold breeze and rumble from the sub, its kinda earey (sp) and real to watch a movie like that.. I generally am not into these kinds of movies up until i watched Gladiator and loved it have i liked this type movie, Its like i just got off the phone with my wife and said "grab this movie" on the way home, we will rent it today and buy it later on, we wanna see what happens next!!
I have had a hell of a night and morning, had power problems, come to find out a wire melted and broke off behind the power meter last night.. i thought my AVR was fried, it wouldn't turn on.. just relay clicks.. the house was runing on one side of the meter so it wasnt enough to power the tv's, stereo and stuff.. lost all my settings on the AVR,i guess it lost power for to long.. this morning didn't have whole house power for over 2 hours while they replaced a isolator and 4 awg wire on the meter.. what a day, the AVR is now working and set back up ready for the twin towers tonight.. Glad its all fixed.MY HT RIG:

Hey guys I am picking this up tomorrow, but I am curious if the DD track will be as "hot" as the FOTR.
Give me some reviews guys, I would like to know.:) -

The only reason I'll buy the LOTR-TTT-EE because of extra footage. Another reason because I have the LOTR-FOTR-EE anyways.
I really don't care about DTS track. I'm a DOLBY fan and I heard and watched most of the movies in DOLBY DIGITAL and I know the difference between them, even in the theater I can tell what they are playing into. Movies in DOLBY tracks have different bass, more echo and punch that I've ever heard. DTS tracks never really excited me much in terms of bass especially in theaters and even on DVDs.
One of the reasons is the mixing of sound engineers of both format. DOLBY
bass is more focused into .1 LFE where DTS is more into 6 or 7 full range signals. More like bass from all the channels.
I'm not puting DTS down, its my opinion
why I love DOLBY over DTS. I've read the PDF articles on both DOLBY and DTS they do have different mixing.
LOTR-TTT has a DOLBY SURROUND EX track and it is very powerful. DOLBY has lot of bass. I'll watch the DVD in DOLBY first. DTS ES 6.1 is great but DOLBY is my favourite.
STAR WARS EP1 & EP2 both have DD EX track. Best sounding DVDs! Bass shakers! whats wrong with DOLBY guys!
I'm waiting more for The Matrix: Reloaded than LOTR-TTT. DOLBY EX shakes everything there too!Panasonic TH-50PX80U Plasma HDTV

I cannot wait this long for one of the best movies of our time, especially when it's only $15 for the theatrical run. Add to that the fact it contains extras that will not be included in the EE version.

I watched Two Towers last night.. i gots to say...i was not very impressed with the DD track. My rears were hardly used to the degree I was expecting.
