System going back in the room....

Some of you might remember the acousitc problems (especially with bass) I was having with my system a few months ago. I moved the gear into the bassment as a result. Well, it seems like I was lucky to touch my system 3 times the entire summer. I just have no urge to listen to it down there.
Well, last night I turned the tv off, stared at my room for half an hour, and got an idea. So right now im working on bringing the system (sans 100 pound tv) up from the basement into the room again. I forgot how much of a fú(kiñg beast that AVC-3030 is
I'll let you all know how it goes when I get it all hooked up and tweaked out.

I take it the AVC never made it to your gramps' house How do you like it?I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Polka.......ill explain it later.....
For now, i still have the problem where the bass kindof misses you and hits somewhere in the corner. I think it has something to do with the closet in the corner....Ill try putting things in the closet to see if it helps....
until then............
*edit*.......i got two medium sized rocks from the yard, leaned them against the unholily flimsy closet doors, and the sound all of a sudden focused up front, there was almost no "leftover" sound coming from the corner. I think the closet doors were resonating, and the harmonics could easily be heard and shifted the focus of the sound to the corner. -
Well after trying two positions and having everything taht was on the floor on the bed to show for it, I found something that works. A few details need to be sledge hammered out, but its looking promising.
Polkatese, my grandparents can barely work the remote that comes with the Comcast Digital Cable receivers. The 3030 is just too many buttons and options for them to **** up So they're jammin away to my old Onkyo stereo receiver and some $20 bookshelves. At least it's not tv speakers.
As for my opinion, IDK if it would be fair for me to judge it, as I've been listening to crappy headphones and computer speakers for months, so my ears were wiggling with joy the first time I turned it on today.
The only things I don't care for are the binding posts that are hard to insert bare wire in to, and a small switch on the remote that feels a bit fragile and might malfunction with frequent use. Other than that it's an above decent amp. Of course today Pro-Logic is like the old man at the nursing home that can't do anything but **** his pants and is just waiting to die, but you aren't limited to PL either. You can customize the delay, volume, FR, and a bunch of other properties of the DSP modes, which is worlds better than preset Church, Warehouse, Grand Canyon, Garbage Can type modes. (I only watch movies maybe once every two weeks, so obviously two channel performance is more important to me. I usually keep the surrounds turned off and as of now I only have two speakers hooked up  )
I don't really feel cheated having no tuner, probably becuase the radio around here is so abysmal. (SQ and programming) If I want radio for background noise I have a POS sony boombox. -
great to hear you are on your way to better sound!I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Second day.....fourth attempt......can I tame the beast?
I played a sweep from 150hz to 20hz, and nothing seemed to come from a "phantom" sub or from the corner....maybe.......just maybe....I can get this right and sit on my **** all day.....who knows. -
Eh, it works. It's as perfect as I can make it.
