Hook Up Question

Hi All. I'm hooking up Polk RTi 100s to an Onkyo TX-8511. On the 8511, I have slots for +/- for Channel A and +/- for Channel B. On the Polks I have +/- for speakers and for subwoofers. Should I put both the speaker and subwoofer + wires TOGETHER into the Onkyo A + slot and so on?

Suzie, welcome to Club Polk. Your 8511 has no filters to do bass management, so the internal filters in your RTi 100s will perform this function. The B terminals on the 8511 won't be used; they're for a second set of speakers, in another room for example. You'll connect one speaker wire for each RTi100 to the A speaker clips on the 8511. You can then connect it to either the top or bottom terminals on the RTi100; it makes no difference which, as long as the connecting strips between them are tight. Those strips serve to connect the subwoofer and higher frequency sections of the RTi 100 both to the output of the 8511. The 8511 will actually power the higher frequency section, while the subwoofer section lets just the signal but practically no power through, so that the internal RTi100 sub amplifier powers the subwoofer cone.
