We have had app. 3 meg download internet for several years from a phone/internet/security comp. called etc.....no affiliation except to pay them every month.

About a month ago, a simple lowkey email arrived from them, figured it was just a sales pitch or something.

No! new technology has allowed them to speed up our internet from 3meg to 10meg downloads........10 megs...........AT NO EXTRA CHARGE.

When was the last time something similar has happened to you.

The email said it would happen soon, but i got on the vudu speed test and sure enough, instead of it chugging its way up to 3, it shot right up to 10 megs.

Have not seen a huge diff in web browsing and such, but netflix and other video accesed thru the blu ray has improved remarkably, both the wait times and video quality.

We are now able to watch 1080p without buffering.

Thank you smart people.

I've had Comcast internet sense the late '90's. In that time they have increased the speed at least 3 times and I think it may be four times with no increase in price until it went up $2 a few months ago. I think the speed when I first got it was 1.5 Mbs, now it's 12 Mbs.

Same with Charter, started at 1Mbs in 2000, then was increased to 3, then 8, and just recently 12Mbs, although I usually get closer to 18 - 20 Mbps. Price has gone up $5 in all that time.

Of course the TV portion of the bill has increased much more than that, and they haven't really added any more channels, or at least none worth watching. Go figure.

Dedicated 200meg fiber here with zero complaints. The only thing I could upgrade to would be 1gbps and I don't really need that much bandwidth.

Yeah, the TV has gone up several times since I've had the service, but the internet only once. And that's over more than a ten year period. Each speed increase has been double the previous speed. Not too shabby.
