Just received and set up my new SVS 20-39 PC+ and performed a few demos. All I can say is that this is the most tremendous improvement to my HT system EVER! The most CLEAN, TIGHT, ACCURATE, DEEP, and POWERFUL BONE-CRUSHING BASS I have EVER heard! Yeah, it was a LOT of money, especially after just scraping up enough to buy the 20-39 PCi, but it was money WELL spent!

I had an earlier post on Bass/Treble Controls, and after powering up the SVS, I quickly discovered why I was boosting the treble so high (+8 out of +12!) - my Infinity BU2 sub was so boomy it was (or seemed to have been) muddying over my midranges in my RTi70's. I still like it a tad on the bright side, but NOW I only have to set my treble to + 1 or +2! Even totally flat on both treble and bass, it sounds terrific! To summarize, it seems like my RTi70's "shine through" much easier now.

P.S. The folks at SVS are simply incredible people with which to do business. Ron S. and Tom V. have been enormously helpful and responsive to all of my inquiries and comments, even on weekends. My hat is off to these folks and the rest of the SVS team for unmatched customer service and developing a remarkable product at a cost that surely has to put competitors to shame. And last but not least, a HUGE thanks to Doc for the EDucation on what SVS to buy and why, as well as to the rest of you Polkheads for your advice and comments!

    OK Kev let's summarize:

    1) Kev + SVS = BLOWN AWAY
    2) The best improvement EVER.
    3) Incredible value, money WELL spent.
    4) Amazing CS above and beyond.

    Hmmmm........that's the SVS business ethic.

We SVS owners are starting to sound like a broken record - and that's a GOOD thing!

I'm just tellin' ya...........the good Doctor will not steer his Club Polk brothers wrong - SVS is the REAL DEAL.

Congrats, Kev - I know it was a stretch and you came through and lemme guess - 30 seconds into the first demo and you didn't care about the $$ and wondered why you didn't pull the trigger sooner.

Is there any comparison to the lowly Infinity? Any at all?

I found running the sub flat does make the mains blend better with the sub, It's like ED is zero'ed into the setup of these things :D ( SVS's )

Every suggestion works out, I get tired of thinking, yup he's right again, LOL

I know it sounds like a cliche, But Spec knows his stuff and knows SVs's like no other around here.... Thanks for the help and i'm sure Kberg will be in seventh heaven for awhile as i am still a week later..

Oh and i did already forget what i paid for the PB1, Moot point at this point in the game!!

maybe all this sub chatter will get POLK marketing some more powerful impressive subs in the future?

Thanks for all the comments. Btw, just today my 9-year old daughter said to the wife while the wife was out of the house..."Mom! Dad shaked the whole garage with his new speaker while you were gone!" Then my wife said in an I don't give a **** tone of voice..."That's great".

    'nuff said.

    Good work SVS. :D

Not yet, I was holding out for the EE, but my son wants the DD version for his B'day in Oct., so I may be heading out to BB or CC to pick it up this week before they jump the price to 19.99 next week. I'd appreciate hearing a full review from you on this one, noting any scenes in particular that have great bass effects.

Btw, I cranked the DTS logo/demo as part of The Patriot superbit version (one of my absolute favorite movies), and my wife came into the room before the demo ended and she didn't look too pleased.

The ability to piss off your significant other is a key purchase criterion for any sub.

    All,

Thought I would put up a pic of the infamous 20-39 PC+ (as if nobody had seen one before!). I know it might be better off behind the TV in the immediate corner, as I have the room for it, but I'll need someone to help me move it there. Any forethoughts on how much better it would sound trapped behind the TV/entertainment stand before I blow a carotid artery moving everything around? I do have a concern for it being too close to the AVR/DVD player since it is not shielded, but other than that, I'm good with the idea.

The right front is in the next picture I'll post. I know it seems like I should also have it to the immediate right of the TV where the sub currently is; however, my surrounds are in the rear corners of the room on 24" stands, and I think it helps to also have the front L/R as close to the corners as possible, even though the TV isn't directly centered between them, but can't be due to the fireplace. Damn fireplace!

I agree with Trey. Any chance you can move the left speaker further left? As far as the sub placement, if you are getting a nice flat response where it is at, there's really no need to hide it. :)

I would guess there is some attenuation in bass spl due to the fireplace.

Not much - those are blinds for the doorwall on the left side. I'll confess there isn't a whole lot of choices for speaker placement with the fireplace there. Any additional suggestions are welcome.

Dynamite. Should take the fireplace out clean. Could result in lower maximum SPL though.
