I'm not very knowledgable when it comes to audio equipment... That said some members helped me out in another thread about what I would need as a simple background music system in my kitcken ceiling (must be in ceiling; 15'x20'; 9 ft ceilings) that can be rev-ed up a little if need be...I'll probably just put in 2 speakers...again, not looking for a wow factor...just solid clear music. I'm deciding between RC80i's, TC80i's, and RT-70's (vanishing). Any thoughts? Are the TC's worth the extra $ over the RC's? TC's over RT's?

Also...Does the ability to point the tweeter with the RC's help in any way in comparison?

    Thanks!

I think the tweeters are aimable in both the RC and TC series. I'm not sure about the RT. I've owned both RC and TC series and for my kitchen, I would go with the RC series. If you just want background music, and only want one speaker, Polk makes an RC6 that has both a left and a right channel tweeter. I've wanted to try that, but I haven't.

TC is supposedly a large step up in quality from the RC. However, if you arent looking for impeccable detail and such, go with the RC's. I have the RC's as rears in my HT setup and they're fine. They play music nicely, but I want to upgrade to the TC's because they are an obvious weak link in my speaker setup.

    Polk Audio RC60i (rears)

    Samsung LN46B550 (LCD)
    Sharp BD HP22U (Blu-ray player)

Thanks! What kind of receiver (under $300) should I get if I want to power 2 pairs of TCs in 2 separate rooms and a pair of outdoor speakers? I need to be able to turn on/off each of the 3 sets individually. Should I get one of those "speaker selector boxes" to go with it? Will that destroy the receiver and sound quality?

Specific models would help a ton!!

    Thanks again!

Also, has anyone heard the vanishing series? Are they better than the TCs?
