I know this has been in a number of threads but, I thought this would be quicker than searching...

There have been a number of posts mentioning set up discs that aid in the calibration of speakers for the 6.1 setup. Could anyone tell me what it is and where it may be available in Massachusetts, Boston area? And given my system(listed below) is this disc necessary or useful?
I know this much...I'll need to go to radio shack and get one of those SPL meters to get the job done correctly.

I am guessing improper set up is the culprit here but i'll post my problem(annoyance really) below anyway just in case.

When watching movies (mainly dvd's) when people are speaking softly or just regularly I have to turn the volume way up just to hear them normally and when the scene changes and there is and explosion or any action or music it gets uncomfortably loud.
I have just readjusted the speaker distance(on the receiver) but have not had time to test the results... tweaking in progress....

Any comments/advice would be appreciated...

Thanks
Shawn

Order the new Digital Video Essentials from Amazon for $20 and it will ship on 9/2/03. The price is right, it does 6.1 (and maybe even 7.1) channel calibration, and it has a ton of video calibration stuff too.

Then get your RS meter and get back to us when you are ready to roll.
