Hello Everyone,
I have caught the upgrade bug and would like to go with seperates. I currently have an Onkyo THX 828 receiver being used as a pre-amp with a Harmon Karden PA5800 5 channel amp. I have heard great reviews for stereo and home theater sound from the Outlaw Audio 950 pre-amp. I was wondering if anyone has or has heard this pre-amp, or currently uses it with thier polk's. Any opinions or suggestions welcome.
My current system:
Onkyo THX 828
Harmon Karden PA5800
Mains: RT16's
Center: CS350LS
Surrond: LS/FX
Sub: PSW150
Thanks and best regards,
Jeremy

It's really hard to go wrong with Outlaw when you take a look at the deals they offer (950/7100 for $1600). I really like the Outlaw amp that I got from them and have no problem recommending their equipment. I have not heard the 950, but like most people that frequent numerous forums, I have read a lot of positive comments. The great thing about Outlaw is that you can get into seperates for a little cash compared to the many other options available from Brick&Morter stores. Places like CC, BB, Tweeters, etc. do offer the chance to listen to the equipment in the store before you buy, and obviously that's not an option with Outlaw. The good news is that they have a fantasic return policy if you buy their products and don't like them.
I say "Go for it!!"

venomclan,
You might find this article interesting as it is a review from some regular dudes like us (as opposed to Stereophile etc.)
I thought they did a great job with the comparison and may provide you with some insight on how the 950 will sound.
Can't really go wrong with the 30-day back warranty either.
Hope this helps you out:

Hi PJ and Frank,
Thank you for the input. My next move is to sit down and figure out what to do with my Onkyo if I get the Outlaw. I appreciate your help. The Outlaw seems to be a formidable piece. I will post in the System Showcase soon either way. Great article by the way PJ. Thanks.
Best Regards,

You are welcome as well Venomclan. Let us know how it sounds if you pull the trigger.
Yes, the other forum thread was very informative. I like the way they did a "shootout" without getting combative with each other. Its all good. If we all heard the same thing this would be a boring hobby and we would all own the same "Acme" receiver that Coyote would buy.:)
