This was posted on a vacuum tube listserv to which I subscribe. by (needless to say) an engineer in the group.

For some reason, I felt moved to share it here!

It is an utterly fascinating :-P 5 minute video on new types of HV rectifiers from International Rectifier (I guess they just call themselves "IR" nowadays; I remember them as "IRC"). We draw the viewer's attention to the vignette starting just before three minutes. Something about those KT-88s just doesn't look right.

    You mean this? Tubes glows brighter when sand is put inside? Probably the last tube you ever need. :biggrin:

    I wonder if the ICs last longer, or sound different when in a vacuum.
