7.1 Surround with LSi?

Does it make sense to have a full 7.1 surround system using the LSi series?

The LSi surround speakers are dipoles. Would you use side and rear dipoles? If not, which other speaker should I consider for a rear surround? An LSi7?

Depends. I have a 5.1 with 4 LSi15s. I used to have LSi7 for the surrounds, but upgrading to the Lsi15s made a big difference. Don't believe it when people say the surrounds, and/or rears, are not important.

Also, if you use your HT for multi-channel SACD it helps to have good speakers all around.

I also have 5.1 using the LSi speakers for my HT(LSi9, LSiFX, LSiC). Tried the 7.1 and there was not noticeable difference for me.

Keep in mind the lsi series are all 4 ohm speakers. The 7's being the easiest of the bunch to drive. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

The 15s have a built-in speaker stand that is very stable. Also, after I hooked up the 15s, I was surprised at how much more bass I was hearing/feeling than before. I usually keep my sub turned off unless it is a Friday night action movie.

Keep your back surrounds close together ans set them to bi pole if that is an option.

Their is no clear cut answer. Rooms vary, placement issues, size. If your a bass head and you want more bass in the rear, the 15's is your huckleberry. Then again,if you already have a kick **** sub in the mix, you won't notice any loss of bass with the 9's.
