You guys have been a great help in the past and I need some guidance on speaker set up. System is as follows:

Receiver: Yamaha RX-A2000BL
Subwoofers: Two Polk 550
Front R/L speakers: Polk VM20
Center speaker: Polk VM20
Left/Right Surrounds: Polk RM201
Rear Center: Polk VM10

I always struggle with getting the correct settings, particularly on the subs....any suggestions appreciated.

What exactly are you asking about sub setup? Crossover frequency? Placement? Setting up dual subs? Just need a little more info about what you're needing help with.

Trying to set sub Volume, Phase, Crossover and Low Pass for the best sound quality----I realize that is all pretty subjective, but some basic guidelilnes would be helpful---i.e. give a me a starting point.

I'd start with the volume at 12:00 on the sub, phase at 0 if the sub is up front, use the LFE input from your receiver and cross the sub over around 80hz. Be sure to use the setup mic on the receiver to calculate distance and it'll calibrate the level itself. The crossover on the back of the subs is bypassed and the receiver crosses it over at whatever you choose. I prefer putting my subs in the corner, it usually sounds better. This is all subjective but should get ya going.

Why would he put the sub @ 80hz and not 120hz?

    Thanks
That is close to the setting I had on my former receiver, a Yamaha Rx-V863
I have the subs about 4 feet on each side of the receiver---only location that is possible without a major construction wiring project that isn't feasible.
WHat impact does the 80hz vs the 120hz setting have. Sorry for the dumb questions, but audio isn't my strong suite.

Well it depends, on my pioneer I can't adjust them separately. I have to adjust all my speakers with the same crossover and the sub picks up where they cutoff. If you can independently adjust them just play with the settings and see what sounds best. 80hz is what THX recommends but that doesn't mean something else can't sound better to you.
