We're just evening the playing field. Most of the civilized world is in agreeance and well aware of what he will do to everyone he finds had a part in this revolution. Make no mistake, whole families, hell whole clans, would be annihilated.

As a fellow human being, knowing what I know about his rise to power and methods of retaining that power to date, I don't see a problem with it. When the majority of your population says they no longer want you as their "leader", you need to step down.

How long do you think people are going to watch you reap the ungodly profits, shared amongst the few, while they have to scrounge and eek an existence?

If things keep going in this country the way they are, I wouldn't be surprised by a major uprising by our own citizenry. Things are way out of hand the world over, and it's showing...

Muammar al-Gaddafi has always been a thorn is the civilized world's size and a major festered boil on the US's butt. He should have been ousted long ago by his suffering people. It's about time.

I just find the whole thing phoney from the git go. Suddenly the world is concerned about the citizens of Lybia ? The same country the U.N. was about to give an award to for human rights ? No concern for the rest of the African continent, where the citizens are slaughtered almost daily. Funny how they look the other way to those countries.

True pal. But this " the poor citizens " crap turns my stomache. The problem I see is putting too much control of the oil, or at least the price of oil, into a group of wacko's hands, which is more dangerous than dealing with individual wackos.
I don't see this ending well. Don't get me wrong, he's a nutjob that the people should have hanged years ago, just don't see us as being the ones to do it. But if we are the ones to do it, then go all out, end it quickly, and get the hell out. This dragged on war B.S. to win the hearts and minds of people who don't like you is just stupid. I suppose we will have to rebuild that country too after bombing the crap out of it. I still believe there's more here than meets the eye, besides oil. Time will tell.

....cannot be seen as a mere instrument of the United Nations, which would relegate the U.S. Constitution to second-class status behind the U.N. Charter. If U.S. troops are going to be put in harm’s way, the authority must come from elected representatives in Washington, not from a bunch of international bureaucrats hanging out in Turtle Bay.

This is very well said, and is 100% correct. The sad truth is that to many in the power structure, the Constitution is just some old ducument that is irrelevant today. Thanks Tony for highlighting this.

I see a pattern here. While I feel for the people of Lybya, I can't help but think that this action is wrong. How many other civil wars are going on right now that the world is doing nothing about. There is definitly more going on here than meets the eye. How long has it been since France has stuck their neck out for anyone else but France? At least the French involvment may be an indication that this will probably be quick.

Maybe it has something to do with this: "On 23 February 2011, amidst the Libyan protests, Mustapha Abdel Jalil, former Libyan Justice Minister, alleged that he had proof that Libyan leader, Muammar al-Gaddafi, had personally ordered Abdelbaset al-Megrahi to carry the bomb on to flight 103"

Maybe someone in the US or England has seen and verified Mustapha isn't blowing smoke. Who knows:confused:
