    Which ones? Monitors, Signature, Studio?

If it was me I would go with smaller Paradigm Studio's over Monitors.

I just didnt like the Paradigms Monitors sound, didnt sound nearly as good as the Studio series.

Talked to some installers @ two local hi-fi shops and they said they would rather sell someone a set of Studio 10's w/ sub over any set of floorstanding Monitors w/ sub.

What do you have now that your looking to replace?

Got a friend looking to buy some, i tried to steer him to polk, but his brother convinced him the monitor bookshelf line is better, hes looking to get the bigger bookshelf models,,and his brother swears by paradigm,, just wondering what makes them so great, as i once had some titans,, was not impressed,

I can tell you I like the Studio 20's more than my Monitor 60's, but they also cost ~650 per speaker. For that price they better sound alot better lol....

I honestly would tell him to listen to some LSi 7's or 9's. Their only downfall is needed a dedicated amp (in most scenarios). Otherwise point him toward the RTi A3's. Is this for a HT or a small office setup?

Dont like the Atoms so much myself.

Personally he should take a look at the Infinity Primus 162's (if he can find em lol). I got em last year and they do a good job in my office and are front ported so you can push em up against the wall.

Probably replacing them w/ Powered Monitors just to get some space back, but sure do like them lol....

I agree, not a big fan of the Paradigm monitor line. I do like the Atom's for small monitors, and I love my Studio 20's. He should also look at Totem Dreamcatchers, EPOS 5's, and the LSi7's.

2 channel with a sub or no sub? if dedicated to bookshelf-style speakers, look into the paradigm studio 40, not made anymore, but should certainly help put some good low end in the mix if he doesnt want a sub. if u can find studio 40's that arent sitting on CL for a year at $700.....

    some cheap free sony speakers

Paradigm and Polk don't sound alike. If he likes Paradigms he probably won't like Polks. PSB has a similar sound. Their bookshelves are great values and put out some prestigious bass. I'd probably prefer their image or imagine bookshelves over most of the Monitor line.

Yeah, i prefer polks,, had some Titans, years ago,, they seemed to have exagerated bass, i think it was how they crossed them over,,

Paradigm and Polk have a very different sound and it is a matter of personal choice. The biggest difference between the two brands is that across the board Paradigms are more efficient, averaging about 91-92db. The Polks offer real veneer on the RTiA line which is equal to the Paradigm Monitor series which is vinyl wrap.
