I was reminded how some records make you stop what you are doing and listen to them!

While I was making my supper I was listening to Black Sabbath "Paranoid" LP and realized that this record warranted my full attention!
Once I cleaned up the supper dishes, I re-cued the LP on the table, grabbed a Foldgers, sat back and was wowed again!

Excellent damn album!

What album does it for you?

You know, the album that makes you stop what you are doing and listen or the one that gets your undivided attention so that you can just listen?

There are probably a lot! Maybe we can name a few each and have a "top album" list for other members to investigate.

A couple of mine would be:

Carly Simon "Anticipation"
Joy Division "Unknown Pleasures"

The Clash, London Calling... or (on blu ray) Dave Mathews & Tim Reynolds live at radio city music hall are my favorites.

Taken from a recent Audioholics reply regarding "Club Polk" and Polk speakers:
"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

My latest new find has been Peter Wolf "Midnight Souveniers". The duet with Shelby Lynn is mezmerising.

    Absolutely.

I'd also like to add Disintegration by The Cure.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Elton John's "Madman Across the Water" did that to me the other week.

Had the house to myself, so I put in my SACD version and turned up the volume - not too loud - just 'room filling' and then could...not...stop....listening.

Lots of others do that - its the 'whole experience or nuthin' - which is why I probably will never be a 'playlist' type of guy...but that's just me

Really nice list we got started.

Have to agree with the not being a playlist type of guy as well. Love sitting down and taking the entire album in.
