I bought a new HRT Streamer II+ and hooked it up tonite, Loved the sound, but right from the beginning i was get periodic static flashes that would drown out the music(lasted from 1 to 3 seconds). I tryed several things, first I using Media Monkey and then use itunes, no diff, I tryed fiddling with the usb cables which is 15ft long(HRT says max of 5m so i'am 3ft shorter). I also try different formats of music mp3, flac, etc.. no change. I went on there web site and looked at the pdf they had for windows 7 and followed the directions to reduce the sample rate to 44100hz , it was at 96000hz which was default for that device. This helped alot! the static is now down to a small crackled every now and then, but definitely not acceptable.

Setup

Laptop (windows 7)>hrt streamer II+ >Denon 3808CI> Rotel RB991 > Polk LSI 15

Anyone have any experience with this before I phone HRT??

Thanks

The USB cable is too long. I don't care what the directions say. Try a shorter one.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

are you using a Laptop or PC.. I've had some static issues on my laptop. but changing USB ports and turning off my wifi anntenna and not multi tasking helps the most i think. I keep the laptop hardwired to the router when playing so i can access the nas but if the ethernet cable is too close to my usb cable there seems to be interference as well for static..I also use a 2 m usb cable so that might be part of my issue as well i might have to try a shorter cable as ben suggests.

Using a lap top right now, I tired switching the usb ports, no difference. I'll pick up a shorter cable tomorrow as Ben says!

    Thanks

Just to add I have not had this issue on my Win 7 desk top at 96K but I am using an Audioquest Cinnimon .75m cable. My HRT MSII sits right next to my wifi router again with no issues. If it matters I do multitask but my PC is much more powerful than a laptop.

    Just an update!

There seems to be issue between different types of Laptops.

Orginal Laptop - All kinds of issues

    Friends Laptop - No issues

New Laptop - minor issues, corrected by using an external usb HUB that has its own power supply(HRT recommended this when I called them)

The first two Laptops where only a year old, both with windows 7.

My new one also has windows 7.

Haven't tryed using a shorter usb cable yet, or using it from a desktop. I will be trying these in the furture, but for now the problem is solved!

On a side note I got my JL F113 the other day, amazing subwoofer!!. Awesome in 2 channel also

    Thanks for the replys, Cheers

Well I tried a shorter usb cable that didn't fix the static however, I add a powered usb hub today (20 dollar belkin) and it seems to have completely cleaned up the static.. it'll take some more testing i'm sure but initial impressions are that it fixes the issue since the hrt is now being powered by the hub and not the laptop. i'm now able to multitask with no noticeable static so far.
