Three things:

1 - Reading your post makes my brain hurt
2 - For those not aware, this is Windows 7
3 - Even though these are technically 'upgrades' they can (legally) be installed 'clean', meaning you don't have to install over an existing OS. This essentially makes these a full copy of Windows if you own a previous version. I created a post HERE with all the relevant info and how to do the install, not hard at all.

It's a great deal to get arguably the best OS Microsoft has ever produced for around 40 bucks.

Wow, I wish this was Professional. Last year I upgraded my home office machine and needed 7 32bit to be in compliance with my major client. Turns out 64 bit works fine. I wanted more memory and 32 only addresses 4gs, so not only do I have to upgrade the OS, but buy more Ram and this machine is already partially written off. This is a Dell box, but they didn't send me an OS disk with both versions, just the preloaded kind. Guess I'll call them to see if they'll shoot me a freebie.

Anyway, great deal. Windows 7 is the best Microsoft product I've used.

Yeah I wish it was Ultimate, but they don't have those type of deals.
This, however is Home Premium, and has both 32 and 64 discs, with two licenses.

On my machines, RAM is one of the first tackled venues.
My machines are 2/4/8 respectively.
Make sure to buy matched RAM sets.

Anybody know if I can use this to upgrade a Lenovo Ideapad S10-3 Netbook that came with Windows 7 Starter? If so, then i'm in for one license.

Windows 7 starter, not upgradeable from what I hear.

There is a compatibility test from the maker.
Basically, most will have to do a custom install, but it is easy.
Too, any programs you have if jumping from XP will have to be reinstalled.
(Norton or the like, Office and the like and so on)
