Soundman for the Grateful Dead, father of their "Wall of Sound", and the guy responsible for the widespread availability of LSD in the '60's, Owsley Stanley, died today in a car crash in Australia. He was 76 years old.

Bummer, and thanks! Think I read that he would put his stash of LSD in a suitcase on a Greyhound bus and let it ride from SF to LA and back so he only had what he needed with him and could pick up his "luggage" as needed then put it back on the bus.

I knew the guy and worked with him on speaker systems along with Donald Buchla who was/is a genius in electronic music synthetization. Say what you will about those times but I was enthralled with the explosion of concepts and ideas that were ebullient in the Bay Area. Hats off!
