Depends on the recording. If you discount this fact, how can you make a logical decision?

I know it all comes down to the recording and to a degree, convenience. Not counting the convenience factor, which sounds better to you?

I went back to vinyl for the simplicity. I started listening to music just as CD's started replacing vinyl. Recently I decided to return to vinyl. My CD player was my son's Xbox game console. I had to rummage through the couch for a controller that didn't have dead batteries, then turn on the TV, turn on the home theater console, turn on the Xbox, Turn off the surround sound, and load a CD to listen to an album. The Xbox POS died recently. Now to listen to a record I push one button, cue a record and relax. F that modern stuff!!

Now, I have to admit. That's the first time I've heard that LP's were more convenient than an CD. Damn, ya' learn something everyday.

Easy. Vinyl has surface noise regardless of how good you clean it and every time you play it, the high frequencies diminish. No such issues with SACD.

SACD sounds good but I wonder what it would cost to replace my 6000 LP collection IF all the titles were available. When available, I buy my favorite albums on SACD for use and preservation purposes. You can't just reach on the shelf and pull down a SACD on any title you want to hear. Simply for the variety of music, I'll vote for vinyl.
