Not an audiophile
As I am very new to home audio, I have a few questions but will only ask the one for now. What basically is the difference between an "i" series and a "non I" series? For example f/x500i versus f/x500. Thanks

Accoring to the polk product page, there's no such thing as an f/x 500. So the difference is just whether someone included the "i" when they typed the name.Turntable: Empire 208

Amp: Conrad Johnson Premier 350

The i stands for improved.
Those models usually have real wood veneers, upgraded woofers (blue vs black is the identifier) and apparently the crossovers were further tweaked to improve the tri-lam tweeter.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
quad here's a link to an ebay listing for the fx500 (no "i"). I contacted the guy and asked him if they were fxi and he said no, just fx. The pic on the back of it says "fx500". However I know there are fx500i versions out there.

Vr, does it at all have an audible impact in the sound when being heard by the untrained ear lol?"whatever doesn't kill you, only makes you....stranger" -
IMO, you're not going to notice any difference in the "improved" tweeter since it's a surround speaker. If the price stays below $175 on that auction then you're set. The shipping fee seems incredibly low too. The FX500's are incredible surround speakers. Get them and enjoy them.Display: Sony 42" LCD
