Screwed up by buying Kipsch sub. Options?

Okay, major goof on my part. I had a Klipsch RW8 sub that worked well but decided to sell it to buy a SUB10 that I came across on Craigslist. I only read professional reviews for the sub before I picked it up. I got it home, hooked it up and thought it sounded great. More boomy than the RW8 but definitely more impact for movies. For me, the tradeoff is worth it because I use the system primarily for movies anyway.

So I decide to do some more reading on the sub to get tips on placement and whatnot for better performance and that's when I began to find out about the problem with the amplifier. Oh, s***. For those of you unfamiliar with this sub, the BASH amp apparently is defective and will ultimately die. At first, replacing the fuse works but after a day or so, the new fuse will go out as well. At some point, all I will have is very heavy paper weight.

The seller claimed that the sub was "brand new in the box" and when I met him(in a parking lot no less) the tape on the box was broken. They were willing to pull everything out of the box to show that it was all there. I told them that was okay and I had no reason to doubt them. Mistake. I got it home and there were no warranty papers in the box and cord was very lazily wrapped and the plastic covering it had been ripped. It's obvious that this thing was not brand new.

As I said, it sounds fine for now. But because of the deception on the seller's part, I have no idea if this thing is going to last. The fuse could have been replaced already and while it works for now, it could die at anytime. I highly doubt that I'll get my money back. And to be honest, it was my fault for not reading up on this sooner. If I had, I never would have bought it.

My question is, what should I do when this thing bites the dust? Have the amp repaired/replaced? I'm not sure about this option because I have no guarantee that it won't go bad "again". I'm looking at buying a different plate amp altogether but what would you recommend? I don't have a lot of shop skills so my ability to make the amp fit in the enclosure will be limited at best.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Just enjoy it. It could very well last for twenty years.

Agreed. They're not all going to die out like that. Mine's been fine for going on 3 years now.

Thanks, guys. I'm trying to stay optimistic about it. Like I said, it sounds great. I'm still trying to find the best position and settings for it. The RW8 was a nice little sub but it doesn't have the sheer output that this one has. I really hope it lasts.
