AC/DC Bon Scott or Brain Johnson?

To all the real AC/DC fans, who do you prefer as vocalist, Bon Scott (R.I.P.), or Brian Johnson? I cant seem to stomach Brian Johnsons voice one bit, and only think that the success of Back in Black was due to the fact that, the material was written while Bon Scott was still a band member, and the fact that fans were still mourning his passing, thoughts anyone.

I like them both but Bon Scott just a tad bit more. They have done some really great stuff since his passing and they're last album was the best since back in black IMO.

    Brian who?

Bon Scott embodied the spirit of rock n' roll like few others ever have. Every song he ever wrote was an anthem to fightin' , f**kin', drinking and rocking. Long live rock! Bon Scott is dead! Long live Bon Scott!

Bon Scott by a mile. Angus Young rules and is the only reason I can tolerate that screeching of Brian Johnson.

Definitely Bon Scott. I do like what Brian Johnson has done but its just not the same. I heard one of those satellite interviews celebs do when they have something to promote. I forget exactly who the celeb was being interviewed but they mentioned meeting Brian Johnson at a gym I believe in LA. He was on a treadmill smoking a cigarette. Not sure how true it was. Cheers.

Srsly?!?! You even need to ask? Bon, baby. I can't even understand half of what Johnson says. It's always seemed like he was just a Bon Scott imitator, and not a very good one, at that.

My brother bought me AC/DC's High Voltage album the minute it hit the record store in my town back in 1976. When I heard Bon Scott ripping up the vocals me and my friends were floored.
At the time we were rocking out to Nazareth, Budgie, UFO, Gary Glitter, Bowie and then to hear this new group out of Australia with ties from Scotland it did not get much better than that. AC/DC were awesome.
I still think High Voltage is one of the best late 70's early 80's rock albums.

When Johnson came on board it was a let down as I thought all he did was strain his voice to sing.

I got use to the "new" AC/DC and learned to like them, but to me they were never the same with out Scott!

Budgie....now that brings back memories. Still have In for the Kill and Bandolier on LP.

As for AC/DC - Bon Scott all the way.

Two different bands essentially. Not only was Bon Scott a better singer and performer ,the lyrics during his time were wittier and just more sophisticated.

If it is an either or scenario , then the Bon Scott era prevails and I don't think it is even close. I lost interest in AC/DC after For Those About To Rock (We Salute You).

High Voltage , Let There Be Rock and Highway to Hell can still , to this day , inspire an impromptu air guitar performance.

Brian Johnson has a couple of good tunes. Bon Scott does the only bad boy boogie out there. There's only one way Rock (oh wait, that's Sammy), There's only one Jack and........nobody else has a whole lot of Rosie like the Bon.

My vote is for Bon Scott. Interesting that nobody noted thay Highway to Hell was Bon Scott's last album and John "Mutt" Lange's first with the band.

Like has been stated to me they are 2 completely different bands...and not just vocally. During the Bon Scott era I thought they were dirtiier and the blues influencies were far more prevalent. During Brian Johnson's era they became more of a straight forward rock band. Whether that was due to the parties involved or stepping into the eighties I don't know. I like both for different reasons....more musically than vocally as vocals are secondary to me.

The live version of Whole Lotta Rosie......wow, that masterpiece just kicks me in the ****.

I guess my vote would be Brian Johnson. Only because I haven't heard Bon sing for about 30 years. It's hard to compare someone during their prime to someone past theirs. Who sang on Back in Black? Just sayin'.

I like them both but the nod goes to Bon. As has been mentioned, totally different sounds, almost like 2 different bands. I remember seeing them with Bon back in 79 or 80. They opened for Cheap Trick and Ted Nugent. Great show....
